Any recent corkers PeeJay this thread has so often caused me to struggle for breath with heavy laughter.... The world is quite a serious place at the moment so I don't want to laugh at anyone, but hopefully find some humour in everyday life!

The pressure of work here at the moment is so high that I hardly ever get time to even register them. I came in at 6.45am to find 13 emergency and 14 non emergency calls queuing. At 2am Sunday morning it was 45 and 149!

Not a funny but a heartening tale in these troubled times. I've just dealt with a call where a couple of young Asian lads witnessed an old white lady being robbed and followed the suspect giving me a running commentary over the phone till a unit got there and nicked him. Good and evil are not skin colours people.

If I said this sounds like you are grossly undermanned, I assume I'd be preaching to the converted?

I haven't posted in this thread for a while but had to share a call I dealt with today. An operator took an abandoned call from a distressed screaming woman who hung up. Our enquiries led us to her mum's address who said she was at her boyfriend's house on the other side of London. Officers attended the address to check on her welfare only for the boyfriend's wife to say 'Who the hell is she?' I dealt with the boyfriend who wanted to know how we got his address. had to wait until he had cleared before I laughed.
You have been warned!
