EBay has been hacked and I nearly fell for it!!

Hi guys, I was using eBay's mobile app on the Nexus 10 and tried to view a PlayStation 4 listing whereby I was directed to eBay's login site and all appeared normal but in fact I'd been bounced to an Australian meat smoking site via a Portuguese heavy plant machinery site (I kid you not) where it then asked for my Visa details and this happened within the official app!.......beware!!

You can't actually see the URLs within the app so you can't tell that you've been redirected

Yeah it's the whole of eBay, every account... they advise to Change your password.

I know that mate... I'm talking about the listings themselves being hacked and redirecting to phishing sites.....

Its all a bit worrying, I don't very often buy stuff from there and luckily I started having different password from different websites a few months ago, but eBay is the second website that I am a registered with that has been hacked in the last six months

When I went in this morning there was a banner on the homepage saying it was important to change your password, and then it asked you for your registered email address and you went on from there

I changed it last night without the banner and it is a faff, hidden away in "My eBay" somewhere

Yup. Changed mine too. Keep a close eye on the URL's and all should be good.

The banner wasn't there earlier but was this morning, so stated the process & the sai they would send me a message in 5mins, 5hrs later nothing yet. Not great service.

I suspect the rewards were far greater doing this - eBay must be one of the most used shopping sites on the internet internationally (if not the most used), and if its linked to a load of other sites I expect quite a few didn't notice like Steve did and have already spent a fair bit on it
