I'm going on record...

I don't get twitter.

Despite being a regular tweeter, I have to agree. It does seem a very odd concept, largely limiting, and even given the number of people I follow (which is relatively few) everything just sort of gets lost in the feed. Still, I use it to try and drive a little traffic to my blog, and as somewhere I can comfortably post all of the dross and inane observations which would have my friends on Facebook pulling their hair out. (In many ways, I suppose, it's a little more how I actually act in real life - as I regularly spout utter drivel in the middle of otherwise deep and meaningful discourse).

That's fair enough. I also don't understand how people use Facebook (beyond the odd message to friends who don't use email or resounding to occasional social event invites) or what people have to put in a blog lol

I guess I'm old and prefer to keep things more private.

A fair point regarding privacy - there are many things which I would not share anywhere online - but my blog (and, I suppose, as a result, my twitter feed) are an extension of my activity on here - and whilst a little commercial, mainly a vanity project. If I'm being entirely honest...

That's entirely fair, I'd love to have something worth blogging about if I'm honest.

I do get why advertisers and politicians love twitter though. Perfect size for a sound bite.
