And so it is 65 years since D-Day.

I for one cannot forget the sacrifice given by so many for my parent?s generation, my generation, and every generation that follows.
I?m glad that some can abstract themselves from history in ignorance, but we don?t all have to forget their courage and heroism in this way.

Please take a step back for a minute today to remember the horror, death, and savagery, that hundreds of thousands of our own blood had to face to ensure our generation?s blessed freedom, and the freedom of their generation from the clutches of tyranny and fascist despotism.

Nice Googley touch to change the forum header Deano.

I have to report that we all smoked Cigars sitting in Churchill's chair at JJ Fox this afternoon, felt it was the least we could do.

My Dad was a soldier by trade and he was part of the landing forces on D Day. It's poignant - and it's important to respect these things.

I would like to echo all the wonderful comments made by forum members in this thread, we should never forget those who have given their lives, and that struggle has continued on from D-day ensuring that there sacrifce was not in vain, allowing individuals the right to engage in freedom of word and deed.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

                    Agreed.

I would follow the sentiment expressed by all.It would be a different world had things not worked out the way they did.
