I didn't know you dabbled in pipes Jezza. Why forsake the briar?
the hassle and everything...
i have around 5 brighams, 3 medicos, and 2 misc
plus when one such as me has such a large collection for how much he smokes (one to thrice a week), precious moments don't want to be wasted tamping and reaming and running white, fluffy baculums of African animals through my pipes
I can't read the Daily Mail, even if I were to treat it as a comedy paper. As far as I'm concerned the stuff written in it is on par with The Sport. Utter tripe
see, i typed polonium and changed it to plutonium... polonium seemed to sci-fi. but you are right! (should've googled it first )
but upon googling it, turns out each cigarette gives you 0.4 picocuries... fucking great. that's negligible. that radioactive bombardment is less than what they insert into your bloodstream to search for shit. it's less than the background radiation in Japan.
and it certainly won't be causing more cancer than the smoke will.....
But what type of radiation is it we put into you to "search for shit"? I think they are all gamma emitters. Polonium is an alpha emitter I think. And we don't inject people 20 times a day every day either. Alpha emitters are bad news once in the body.

To be fair the main risk with ingested plutonium is its astounding toxicity. You'll die of plutonium poisoning long before you die of radiation poisoning or cancer.

Sorry Eddie, but Eddie's right. No one sources polonium for its LD50 toxicity. Logically, should be near as toxic as arsenic on the periodic table.
But the fact that it decomposes by alpha emission makes it harmful. It's not a lot of radiation but once in you, it causes huge damage. This is why polonium is preferred to toxins. Not harmful until the second it's inhaled, eaten, or injected. Gamma emitters ( like the ones I said hospitals inject you with (Technetium99, etc)) are as harmful inside and out. And I wrong to compare Alpha and Gamma just by the amount of curies.
Again, I'll yield to Eddie as I didn't know polonium was an alpha emitter. What's your major, anyways?
