Little boy finds $20 in car park and walks into restaurant were he then sees a solider who reminds him of his dad who died in iraq who hes never met. He then puts the $20 towards soliders bill with a note.

        Nice pick me up story

Ah yes, that was in the Metro last week. As I recall the recipient was a Colonel or similar. Nice thought but the kid probably needed the money more than him.

I'm so glad that this made the news.... It seems that all we ever see is horrific and awful tales.
The money in this tale is completely inconsequential and I whole heartedly believe that the Lt Col donated that money.

To me this is an inspirational story of a young boy who has suffered a sad loss and will have to go through life without his father yet is displaying values that many fortunate and coddled adults could do to learn from.

I hope the kid can go through his whole life with that attitude and I hope he gets everything he dreams of.

Top story, I love the idea of "pay it forward."

Pay it forward is a good film, I was told it was a feel good movie and showed it to a class of 15/16 year olds at the end of term. About a third of the class in tears at the end...bless them. They were still going on about it weeks later.

Yeah, I agree. When you turn on Look North all the stories are about who has died or been killed that week. It's depressing which is why I don't watch the news anymore. Why can't they tell us the major stories without any sensationalist elements and why can't they fill the slots with 'positive' news instead of misery?

I caught CNN news on bbc 24 once and I was mightily impressed with how everything had a positive spin on it!
