So I get the bill from my ISP today just like I have the last 5 years or so. Only today the bill is $2.12 more than normal. There is a "modem fee" on it. I bought my own modem so I would not have to lease one from them and pay an extra $5 per month for as long as I have it. It only took me 20 min and 5 different people to get across that I own the modem and that should be no fee associated with it as it is not the property of the ISP. Come to find out there is a new fee because and I quote "so the modem can work like it is supposed to". That in turn made me ask if the modem did not work properly they would fix it? The answer was "no, it is your modem...not ours".
There are some moments in life when you start to understand why people can fly into a homicidal rage. I am a very simple person. At least have the decency to be honest with me. All they had to say was your bill has been the same since you have had the service. It has been almost 5 years now and things go up. Instead I get a bullshit excuse (a poor one at that). They did knock the charge off for the next 6 months so I have time to look around for another ISP.

Can you pick a different ISP if you want over there?

Spleen well vented sir. It's a service that's free of charge on here. Was calling them to discuss this rip off charge a free number?

I was with a fantastic small independent ISP for 5 years.... My monthly charge went down every year until I was only paying ?8.20 per month, I never had drop outs or down time.

Sky bought them out 2 months ago, my bill is now ?22 a month and I get regular drop outs........

They won't simplify things whilst they are making more money but confusing and ripping off the common man. This is why I hate these big corporations

It's always the big companies that just expect customers to be loyal without feeling they have to give anything back!
