Thank you, I have enjoyed everything posed in this thread but particularly your efforts. I am a time served slater so I appreciate a nice bit of builder work.

        Cheers.

        • Cheers Rob appreciated mate , done a fair bit of slate roofing myself , in my younger days that's all I did roof tiling , always found them a pain in the arse to be honest as you can't easily pull holes out or leave holes out for ease of work .

You are most welcome. Probably a bit different here in Scotland, the slates are nailed straight onto the sarking which gives a nice rigid base and no need to worry about battens.

I've been out the industry for nearly 25 years now but still love to do a bit.

            • Proper slates , it amazes me when you see flag stones stuck on roofs like in the orkneys

              • Me too, I've seen a few crackers. I stay just down the road from the Chivas distillery and their building has one of the nicest roofs around. Huge slates which look like Westmoreland to me a really nice job.

                • That's some cool up-cycling Roy. I've had thoughts in the past of converting something for straight storage, but it'd need to be lockable for safety.

Cheers, one of the bigger flat type boxes would be great for straight storage. I have seen a few that turned out well, I'm not sure about lockable but maybe a small hasp and staple with padlock would look good.

I hope you give it a go. [emoji106]

                          • I realise that there are a few good posts so here are some of mine:

Cauliflower & Broccoli soup, one of the first things I learned to make. I enjoy making soup and it is pretty easy. My Wife likes the contribution at meal times!

Sticky date and raisin cake with butterscotch sauce, whipped cream and a Sugar lattice.

Traditional clootie dumpling, probably my favourite
