  • II Edition of MRN Book

Just read an interesting article on Nino's site about the second edition of the MRN book, apparently going to be TWICE the size of the original and should be out before the end of the year. I'd imagine you might not get much change out of ?200

I didn't think that it was structurally possible to make a book twice the size of the original. I thought the printers had done a sterling job to hold the original together!

Last figure I heard was closer to ?2000 for the original one. A cheaper version is a possibility but I heard that Trevor has been given the rights to use the pics on his site.

Price is unknown but apparently it'll be 5-6 times the size of the original with a wooden slipcase to hold all the volumes... The slipcase will weigh 5kg+. The whole set is coming in a custom made crate..... I want a set but I'm scared of the price it'll be.....

All of this is from memory so don't quote me.

I would love to buy this book, but from everything I've read about it, it seems I'm going to be priced out of it unfortunately.

It one of my annoyances that I don't have the first edition, I saw it on sale on Amazon (I think) a few months ago but couldn't justify paying the ?100s it was asking for

I think I'd rather smoke the hundreds of pounds worth of cigars than look at pictures of them.

Spot on. Reminds me of a mate who would rather stay at home painting his warhammer models than come down the pub. His logic being that the model lasts forever but once a pint is gone, it's gone. He seems to discount the pleasure aspect of enjoying a good pint and I think it's the same with buying this book over smoking a cigar instead

MRN has said the price wil not be outragous, it wasn't been put together to make money but to record all Cuban vitolas since Rev. If you look through Nino's site think you'll find this mentioned. I for one will be doing my best to get a copy, so if anyone hears when it is finally published; please let us all know & then good luck! I would be nice if one of our members had a copy which we could then use as a reference. If as advertised, this won't be just a book but a work of art & design, as well as an extreme labour of love on MRN'spart. If the price a a good box or two of Havanas then Iwould think it worth it. After all I have many cigars already.

depends if you think 3000 euros is a reasonable price simon, as it is all subjective but that is the rough price I have been told and is far out with what I would pay never mind my personal opinion of the author

To paraphrase monkey66..... No price has ever been mentioned so I don't see where this ?3000 has come from. We need to wait and see....

I'm very interested but if it goes over ?1000 I'll have to pass. I'm a collector of books most notably Philip K Dick and Stephen King but 'a man's got to know his limitations' as Dirty Harry once said!

No book without historical importance or that is rare due to being long long out of print is worth four figures to me.
