I imagine they are more likely to go up in cost, demand would be huge in America...... Almost as huge as the buying power.

I think this would be the case also. I don't think they'd want to let the quality slip since they have the cuban rep to think about

Demand from the USA will be huge. Definitely cigar prices going up, quality going down to keep up with demand. It will also badly affect the Non Cuban Cigar growers.

It doesn't seem to stop people counterfeiting other brands available everywhere.

I know, that will always be the case, but what I mean is that if something is legal it means counterfeiters are less likely to sell as much as consumer can easily get the legitimate product rather than rely on the black market

No they will just lower their prices and ship more, there's one born every minute remember.

Exactly, they will need to lower their prices to compete, meaning they make less money, or at least take more risk for the same profit

I'm not saying it will eradicate counterfeiters but it makes life more difficult for them; in the UK they will basically have exactly the same target market as before (so people who don't know they are fakes) and in the US it will shrink as people would be able to get hold of genuine ones easily

I don't know if I'm completely missing something but I just can't see how lifting the embargo would benefit counterfeiters
