I'm not saying it will eradicate counterfeiters but it makes life more difficult for them; in the UK they will basically have exactly the same target market as before (so people who don't know they are fakes) and in the US it will shrink as people would be able to get hold of genuine ones easily

I don't know if I'm completely missing something but I just can't see how lifting the embargo would benefit counterfeiters
You would have a huge demand for a product that the consumer historically has little knowledge of, demand would likely outstrip production and people would most likely buy anything in the scramble to get a real Cuban.

At least that's what I would be thinking as a fraudster.

Maybe, I'm far from an expert in the area, I just thought that a counterfeiter would prefer to have a ban on the goods they're counterfeiting so consumers would have to use the black market than a clear route to purchase genuine products

I don't disagree with you, but I think a cleaver counterfeiter will still make a living.

How often do you get a Cuban that seems plugged or the draw is too tight ? I don't think the current factories in Cuba would meet demand and perhaps the U.S. would just buy the leaves and do the rest , the possibilities are endless we'll just have to wait and see.
