  • Disaster has struck

Hi all, well disaster has struck. My cigar cutter has broke it was a 99p one from China, still I expected it to last a little longer. The real bad news it I cant get another till my student loan comes in January. My question is that are there any other ways to cut a cigar?

A good craft knife or similar should do the job well if used with care. I've a couple of freebie cutters spare if you want one, Pm your postal address to me and i'll pop one in the post for you.

I have a knife that i use to cut plug tobacco if that will work? I didnt want to just do it in case I ruin a perfectly good cigar haha. I think in January ill purchase one like this: http://www.smoke-king.co.uk/acatalog...575.html#SID=3 if that is any good? Many thanks for the kind offer but I couldn't ask you to do that. Thanks Chris

again thanks for the offer sligub but I wouldn't feel right taking a cutter when I know they cost money that someone else had to spend. Many thanks though

I've got loads of freebies that I've gathered over the years so of you change your mind let me know, most it would cost me is a stamp. The linked one above is a great cutter with a lifetime warranty

if you have a razer blade that will do a great job.

I placed one corner of the blade on a surface so the angle of the blade from the surface was something like 45 degrees.

Then i just rolled the cigar under the blade lowering the highest end as you go

I suppose a knife would do the same thing, but for fear of crushing it, i rolled the cigar onto the blade as opposed forcing the blade through the cigar if you see what i mean.

Your best bet is to try to do everything you can to stretch your funds to get a new cutter rather than risk ruining any cigars but if that isn't possible I would try slicing it with the sharpest knife I have if I were in the same situation, but would get some practice on some cheaper cigars before trying it on anything special!

good advice, I only bought that cheap one as I have only just started smoking cigars and didn't know if id like it. If I didn't ive only spent 99p. Now I know I enjoy the hobby im going to purchase the cutter mentioned above.

I suggest taking one of the guys up on their kind offer. I'm sure thy are more than happy to do it and it won't put them out too much.

In this increasingly unfriendly world, I think it's fantastic that there are people here willing to help each other out.

If it helps, think of it as a pay it forward for the next time you do someone a favour. Or just make a small donation next time Simon Bolivar does a charity competition.

I'm sure you can't go far wrong with a sharp knife or blade, the xikar cutters have a good reputation. I have a palio and can't imagine being without it now, a good cutter us definitely worth the money. Let me know if you change your mind about me sending you a freebie, it's honestly no bother, i live next door to a post office and have a spare cutter or two.

I think I should really, its more of a pride thing with me. The big question is do I accept the very nice offer and hope I can do the same for someone else in the near future or risk a cigar?? I agree its nice to see that there is still good in the world.
