By the time your 16, it's all gone, your childhood.
The Proclaimers
So for those of you who still have young children, try to enjoy every phase of their lives, even through the teething, tantrums, fallouts & make ups, these times won't come to you again unless your lucky enough to see your grandchildren.
Our only child has finally brought a tear to her old mans eye & I had to share her story with you.
Grace wanted to go to school, she had no teary parting but dragged her mother to the school gates & never looked back, she was 3 & 1/2 & went three mornings a week.2012-02-18_494.jpg
At four & finally gave in & took her fishing for the first time, naturally as always she was smartly dressed. My little Pony meets every occasion, especially love the lacy ankle socks. And so on her first attempt she caught a fish. That's a pretty good average for Belgium waters!2012-02-18_191.jpg
By 7yo she had moved up in size & was catching decent Bream & showing my Goddaughter how it was done.2012-02-18_345.jpg
Jumping a few yrs & she's got the belts & braces approach to a tee.

Later the same year her first zander, hope it didn't chip the nail varnish.
Time is spining on & here she is, quite the young lady; in her second yr at Uni.2012.03.SAM_3511.jpg
Here she is in her second yr of an archaeology degree, outside the Uni Library2012.11.SAM_0040.jpg
Easter this yr, checking out the accomm to take her Masters at Bournemouth Uni in Forensic Osteology, if she is awarded her B.A. in the summer.

So there you go, in a few fleeting photos is how she has grown in my minds eye & today she arrived in Bournemouth, logged online & found she has been awarded her degree & starts her Masters on Monday morning!
For someone who only went to college for 2yrs to get a handful of 'O' Levels, I neither had the opportunity nor the desire for academia for it own sake but persude my own interest in all things medical. But although we gave Grace the opportunity, she was the one who did the work. She was always self-motivated & has persude her own goals as vigorously as I did but with far more application than I ever mustered.
So I really wish I could enjoy an alcoholic toast tonight but as I am stuck onboard it'll have to wait until Wed, when I get off but I'll meet with Grace & my wife next Thurs in Bournemouth & we'll be sure to paint the ol' town red for sure.
As a mark of my joy this evening, the first member to post the name of the uni town my daughter went to for the last 3 yrs, will get a cigar bundle sent to them from the Bolivar Cave.
