My wife has had a work commitment tonight and still isn't home so she has yet to meet him...

He'll soon chill with the whiff of your stick mate. He's going to be attention central tonight by the sounds of things...all that love too

          No probs Robusto...

Not that your story is anything like this and not to butt in on your thread, but my mum and dad rescued a English Springer Spaniel from some gypsies some years ago now (poor sod had urine burns, scared shitless of his own shadow, didn't know what toys were and he didn't even know how to eat ).

I remember that first night with him...!!!!!!

Now that I've said all that I expect Archie will be out like a light and you'll have to entice him out of his bed in the morning...!!!

          Cheers, HabanoSy

Bad story there, Hab. Poor dog. I hope he settled quickly.

There was a bit of barking. My younger lad bowled in from his mate's at 0400 so a bit more barking. Then the wake up love-me barking started at 0615 so all in all I am impressed because I thought we might have had a bit of a Thom Yorke wailing night.

He's been out for a FAST walk through the park and down to the sea and back with me. He has been well walk-trained.

I'm in charge today and he already adores me lol. I'll have to watch Jeremy Kyle this afternoon and ignore him, maybe.

He's not at all neglected. He's simply been on the dog equivalent of my Coca Cola addiction in a doggy chew treat format so we both need a step program.

We have a beautiful boy here but I feel - paradoxically - a little sad for the previous unwell and unknown owner who had had to let him go, plus some sadness for my previous dog Max. My new boy's energy makes me think our previous lad must have been in decline for a long long time, and may have been far older than we thought. It's also a bit schizophrenic to have a new boy who is very similar - but not the spitting image of - our previous boy.

It's very strange to feel melancholic when the situation is great.

I'm going to install myself with my new boy on the patio in my dressing gown, light up a pungent breakfast replacement Partagas D4 with some strong Assam tea and enjoy the sunshine.

Let's hope he doesn't screw up his face, hold his nose and look at you disgustedly when you spark up. Just when it was all going so well...

That's great Robusto, glad to hear all went well with the first night, sounds like usual doggy antics...!!!

Jeremy Kyle!?! (Is that code for loose women and Montell Jordan... lol!!!).

A mug of tea and a Puro for breakfast on the patio in the sunshine, one man and his dog. THAT sounds great...

                Right, im off to work...

                Cheers, HabanoSy
