The peculiar thing is that the ?40,000 cost of this cigar is almost twice the Net or Asset's worth of the entire company Regius Cigars

When I read the article I was a tad surprised to find that he spent ?40k on a Regius.

Ive had a few Regius sticks in the past (nice enough) but was perhaps expecting something unbranded, hand rolled with a private tobacco supply that had been fermenting for 60 years.

It's not actually that expensive when you consider what he gets for 40k. Yes, he gets that specific cigar but that's not all he gets. he also gets a trip to Nicaragua, and 1,000 cigars made to his own personal taste. I'd happily pay ?40 a stick if they were made to my taste. Although not sure I could afford 1,000 of them lol

I wouldn't. I would spend the ?40 per stick on some far better smokes. Fly to Cuba and get one of the top rollers to roll you something to your taste for ?3-5 per stick.

Given the available information it is very hard to believe that this is anything other than a publicity stunt.

Whilst I get this whole ?40k for A cigar is did state he would get to travel over and would then receive 1,000 of these cigars.. Doesn't seem to terrible a deal

Lets say ?5k for the holiday, 1st class.
1,000 custom made cigars, how much a pop? say, ?20-?30 each (total ?20-30k)
Total so far, ?25-?35k approx

So that one cigar cost in the region of ?5-10k approx

...just a guesstimate...
