  • dave brubeck is dead!!!

    hey all,
i'm sure not many will be interested, but one of the icons 20th century jazz, dave brubeck, died a couple of days ago, aged 91!!! if there is anything or anyone who epitomizes 50's and 60's cool, it's the smokey atmosphere of one of the greatest compositions of all time, take five!!!

Keep up-to-date with what's going on in the UK and around the world with the top headlines and breaking news from Yahoo and other publishers.

the 'time out' record is a stone cold classic, i usually listen to this while smoking a good cigar, it chills me right out and makes me smile like a crazy cool jazz cat!!!

A very 'cool' period for jazz, also seeing 'Kind of Blue' by Miles Davis. Perhaps the coolest notes in all of music's history.

Such a fantastic musician. Often listen to a "greatest hits" album of his work when driving at night.

Big loss to the music world.

I bought Take Five back in the day, classic, I think it was the only track on the album Time Out that was not written by Dave Brubeck, written by the sax player
