I found Guinness a bit overpowering myself [of the cigar]. What do you normally smoke with it?
It's probably because I have been drinking it so long that I now find Guinness to have a fairly neutral flavour for a beer. It's much less fizzy than other beers and, for me anyway, the main flavour is sweet hops. Stronger cigars, such Partagas and Bolivar, do go very well with it.
As far as I'm concerned, you cannot beat a succession of mugs of strong tea to accompany a good cigar. My preference is a strong, dark tea with some semi-skimmed milk and no sugar. Indeed, I'm currently on my third mug of Tetley tea (newly discovered strong, unfussy tea of choice) and am taking my time to smoke a Snub.
Alcohol?
Not a huge fan with or without a cigar, really.
At a pub, I'll have either a couple of pints of bitter shandy or lager shandy.
At home, I'm with Stevieboy. I really enjoy drinking port with a Havana. A great combination.
Somewhere on here last year I read some people suggesting Earl Grey with their cigars. I tried it and enjoyed it very much so. In fact, afterwards I took a picture of myself for this current avatar.
Usually, though, I prefer scotch, like Macallan or JW Gold, or a stout. I'm kind of a lightweight since I don't drink often other than when smoking a cigar, so I've found that the cigar buzz kicks in just a few minutes before the buzz from the alcohol, thus it gets pretty intense for a few minutes. Then I just end up going to sleep because being high wears me out.
I've posted up on this thread previously, but last night I had a drop of Poteen (cherried) and lemonade, which went with my stick particularly well. I usually nip it neat, but with the mixer was ok too.
For me these drinks at these times usually suits my palate perfectly...
Morning - coffee
Morning/early afternoon - coffee
Early/late afternoon - coffee, red wine or G&T
Late afternoon/early evening - red wine, G&T or dark rum
Early/late evening - port, dark rum, bourbon, single malt or cognac
Late evening - cognac
I've tried a number of alcho drinks with a cigar but havent found one I like to smoke with yet.
I always rely on my favourite brand of expresso if I really want to enjoy it.
I'm pretty much all over the place when I'm pairing drinks with Cigars - most of the time I'll pair Coffee with whatever I'm smoking. But I also go for Red Wine, a hearty real ale, a Whiskey or sometimes a nice dark rum.

And that was my 500.
Good effort Boss. You deserve an exspresso and a fat one after such an output.

Is that every day Habano? Sounds good from early/late afternoon onwards. For me its whatevers in the house, used to be absinthe all the time, at work its normally a large hot chocolate which goes down nice at times.
