Cracked open a nice bottle of red and after a glass thought, hmmmm, fancy a nice bit of cheese, particularly after recently visiting the local artisan cheese cellar (absolutely gorgeous cheese's non of your mass produced nonsense here!)

being the impatient bastard that i am, thought i know, can't be bothered to let it breath for a further hour or two (yer know so its practically running off the plate) i will stick the plate on the wood burner for a couple of minutes!

...you know the rest!

Had to scoop up molten stinking bishop with my crackers whilst trying to avoid the liquid wax from the cheddars! Puts a new twist on fondue i spose!

Yeuch. I don't eat a huge amount of cheese, but it sounds like you metaphorically took a Behike and bit the cap off so you wouldn't have to find your cutters. Hope it wasn't ?ber rare cheese.

We do but learn from mistakes such as these.

Nuke the cheese! , its supposed to be a natural slow process, i was just trying to help it along a little! Yup, live and learn...or not as is normally the case!

Lol. It is not dis-similar to putting the bubbly n the freezer for a quick chill, forgetting about it and discovering your Boli and ground glass Slush-puppy all over the place.

Still nothing like good cheese, we have a small, real cheese shop near us. It is expensive but fantastic produce ...which reminds me I have not had a Vacharan this season yet

The ones I've looked at recently haven't been 'ripe' enough yet.. I prefer it very runny!

If you like a bit of Vacherin though.. this one is well worth a look (IMO).. ?poisses de Bourgogne

Mmmmm, both look like cracking cheese's and yes they've got to be ripe, runnier the better! On my last visit i deliberately stuck to English varieties, Godminster vintage cheddar, Stinking Bishop (fantastically stinky can easily compete with the French), Cornish Yarg and a bit of Montgomery's!

I do buy mostly English cheeses (and other foods for that matter) but I have an itch for Vacharan that I have not found in an English cheese yet ...but I'll keep trying

Don't get me wrong Monkey, i 'love' French cheese, so much so it is easy to forget about some of the lesser known English ones, hence my decision, i will look to see if they have Vacharan next time!
