Cigar Prices up in Cuba

Just got an email from a friend in Havana. Prices are up since last Thursday.
Here are some examples. Big jump.

I'm assuming the prices above are for boxes of 25's ?

Seems a bloody big jump on some!! + ?80 on the Cohiba Esplendido's at exchange ?1 = 1.60 CUC

Any ideas as to the reason for the rise?

It is my understanding that this increase applies only to local sales (in the Island). But if it affects export sales to the same extent, it will be, as we say in French, la fin des haricots !

If this is the case it wont help employment in Cuba , some brands could go out of business .

The brands can't go out of business as it's all the same company run by the government.

Preparation. Fidel is getting old. There is possibly oil in the Caribbean and Montego Bay has served it's purpose.
