I also remarked I "do try to read a thread before I blunder in.." you obviously can't be bothered.
You also seem to think this thread was just aimed at you...Sorry to piss on your pizza, but this was a general appeal to, as I said..."Gentlemen & Cocks"...it's up to you to choose your category!
i said... ''YOU TALKING TO ME?'' ,
...looks round again (only looking a little meaner), ''I said", ..."YOU TALKING TO ME?", ...draws gun and looks menacing
"WELL I DON'T SEE NO ONE ELSE!"
nah...you're not talking to me I'm a chump not a cock!

It's all about expressing ourselves, helping, and sharing thoughts on our experiences with cigars.....
Like any community we have our rules, cultures and generally accepted behaviours.
For example one wouldn't jump into a conversation in a pub with a bunch of guys one didn't know and express strong criticism without risking some sort of response.
Plain txt is a very poor communication method and it is very easy to take offence, therefore it is always sensible to err on the side of caution with criticism (as it will always come across far worse than intended to the recipient).
A few smiley's go a long way to showing no malice is intended

I joined this forum in the hope of reading and contributing to interesting and light hearted discussion on cigars and all that goes with it. I'm very disappointed so far to see the kind of schoolgirl-type bickering amongst members, and some longer serving members at that.
Surely, a common interest in cigars should unite men, and provide the opportunity to be gentlemen (as opposed to cocks), where we can share our passion for the fine things in life - with decorum.
I certainly don't find the argumentative posts encouraging, rather, think it discourages people from contributing.

I agree with freedom of speech, all for it, however there is a difference between freedom of speech and being a complete d*ck. I am not trying to cause a ruccuss, I am all for debates etc etc just not snide comments.

It is all too easy with forum posts to over analyse and "read too much" into comments, also a lot of people take comments as personal attacks.
This isn't the fault of the poster or the reader but the medium used to convey the messages, because of that as has been said previously, caution is best.
Also when someone gives advice or talks about their experiences with cigars this will always be their opinion (unless quoted) and as such can vary/conflict with others views. This doesn't make what is said as gospel, but often it is read and taken as such.
Best suggestion to if a post "annoys", grab a cigar, spark her up and sit backExploring the world - one smoke at a time.

I think that cigar newbies have every right to join in debates, express their opinions and share whatever they might have started to learn through reading or experience. Otherwise this forum would become a closed and introverted place populated by a small group of experts. But the important point to remember is that we should express our opinions with courtesy and respect. Disagreement doesn't justify rudeness or aggression. I'm all in favour of open debate as long as it doesn't degenerate into personal attacks.

It is a hard decision on how to manage a forum, should we suppress one persons right to speak their mind because it puts off another from speaking their mind, it is a dilemma. We really try hard not to moderate unless absolutely necessary and just ask that people maintain a level of respect and understanding that plain txt is a very poor format to communicate in.
Our common interest does unite us otherwise this community would not exist. Hang around a bit you might like itOriginally posted by Simon BolivarLittle medical correction there Steve, you will surely die...but not from smoking these

Welcome Mr Cigar, the best way to encourage light hearted cigar discussions is to contribute and I look forward to your comments and thoughts here.
