I tend to smoke 1 or 2 stogies a day. However I take a week off smoking once every few months. Mainly to prove to myself I'm not addicted and have control over my cigar fetish. But also as they say "absence makes the heart grow fonder", I appreciate a smoke, more than usual, after this time apart. The flavours are more apparent and distinguishable. Am I alone here or does anyone else follow a similar routine or any other strange practice.

Having a gap really does make a difference to the taste, I feel.
I only take a prolonged break if I have a cold or flu. Not out of choice, but because there is no other option.
I smoke every day during my endless vacations, but in a working week I may have a Havana cigar every two or three days.
I do like a good herf where you can knock back four or five great sticks and talk over drinks.
Better than a restaurant meal to me.

What a nice position to be in KDot.
My consumption is based on availability, which is based on cost, sadly. Two, or three, a week at the moment, although this can increase. I'd pet one everyday if they grew on trees
Yes Bryan, the herf is great. The walk for me was stickfestLast edited by cj121; 04-05-2009, 08:42 AM."Go you good things...geddem int'ya"

Depends on circumstances, Saturday I knocked 4 out, while pottering round the garden, the garage & washing the cars, but yesterday none.
That was only because I wasnt allowed any. 'er indoors started moaning that I'd had too many that day already and that it was getting to be an obsession.
My reply in my best George Peppard cigar chomping impression between puffs was "Magic, isnt it!"
Unfortunatley her reply was "You'll get one up your arse in a minute, then lets see how you appreciate the subtle flavour differences then"
Experience tells me not to disagree with the current Mrs HogFree the UKCF one

Can't think why...
I may have posted this before. Can't remember.
Recently I got...
"You'd be more interested in me if I came in a brown wrapper".
I do view spending the odd 20 minutes here as a Meerschaum pipe (in tubular form) Merry England smoke on a peaceful bench by a quiet church stuck somewhere between the set of George and Mildred and an Army transit camp full of nissan huts packed with National Service would-be youths posing with Woodbines.
Bags I the potato peeling rather than hosing down the shithouses.
Actually that is like one of my old school photos, my old brown-wrapped beans...
Hello, Mother.
For clarity, then...
I think we're like a bunch of guys on National Service here.
And I'm way too young to have ever done that, but we have an Army Camp mindset at times.
Nothing wrong with that. My Dad was a Sergeant Major.
So you are all my Fathers...

Not through choice.
I smoke less than six months of the year, though not through choice, and I would agree that to have a break from it does give you the anticipation element.
The first smoke after having a break for a month can be very enjoyable indeed as you try to get your taste buds up to speed with the different flavours and smells (my mouth is watering now as i type this) .
I normally only smoke two or three a day, although the cigars I prefer are are usually larger vitolas."Keep your eyes peeled, your arse up, head down, and your ear to the gound" WHISKY77

Your mother want's me to ask if you are regular!
What's the food like old man? When I was on my training we had Cabbage soup and Fois Gras sandwiches but they wouldn't cut the crusts off (frightful philistines).
Your basic training is going to help you develop a hatred of the sort of mindless bigotted authority which made this country great and that can't be bad can it.
So knuckle down and get your bloody hair cut, if it was any longer I would be standin on it!Nic
