Hi folks - I was in Ed this weekend and went to a cigar shop down in the Leith area of the town. Nice wee shop with a decent walk-in humidor. They have some nice rarities including the Cohiba & Monte Millenium jars. The younger lad who works there doesn't know an awful lot about the smokes but he was very friendly and pleasant. The owner on the other hand was a right smug show-off who wouldn't let me get a word in whilst he boasted about all the rare stuff he owns!!! I asked about the Cohiba piramide jar and he said "I'm not selling them, they're going to auction"....errm, an auction is a sale....I thought it but didn't say it. All in all, a disappointing visit which left me a bit dumbfounded and pissed off with him. You live and learn...

Deano - I should mention they have the yellow Monte PE humidor for sale if you're still interested. They do mail order - Little Havana is the shop's name but not sure of their URL!?!

What a shame you had an off-putting experience Stevie. That self important 'stuck up your own humihole' does nothing to enamour purchasers. I'm guessing he was feeling a little threatened by your stogie-wisdom mate and got on the defensive. You kept your dignity mate, top marks

LOL!! I did until I got outside the shop. My poor wife had to listen to me effing and blinding for ages afterwards.

Cigar smoking to a newbie can be intimidating enough without pompous gits showing off If that had been my first ever experience of a cigar shop I'd have felt quite put off.....

Hi Horse! You're bang on about JJ!!

I had one of my best ever experiences lately with JJ Fox. I think the guy that helped me was Ryan?! and he was a true gentleman. Excellent customer service and treated like royalty

Anyway we can stick a pin in the google map for this and any other shops round the country that we may find?
I do a bit a travelling round the country might be nice if I knew a shop was somewhere where I was heading so I could put a bit of time aside.
Dont even know if there are any round my area?

Theres a nice shop in Edinburgh in one of the side streets near the haymarket, a bit pricey for my liking but a good selection none the less. I only purchased a few singles and there was only one assistant who had an interest in cigars but by no means an expert. I think its in Rose St but cant be sure...

Also vaguely remember a shop in glasgow when I just started smoking, not the slightest bit judgemental, you could even haggle with the guy. But I think it burned down a few years back!

I know theone you meanin Rose Street KDot! There's another on the Roysl Mile as well but the guy who runs its is a smug tool with a Mid-Atlantic drawl who sounds like Loyd Grossman. He waxes lyrical about Cuban cigars to the tourists but doesn't really know anything about them

I can imagine all us UKCF members standing in the street and breathing deeply..."I'm getting hints of blackened glass with subtle notes of fireman's hose"

With today being National Fnaar Fnarr day it would be remiss of me not to grasp at the "Subtle notes of Fireman's hose"
