I love my Senseo, makes a great cup of coffee. It uses pods which are just like round teabags and there is a good selection of them liddle do some very acceptable and cheap ones. There are also ones like the Douwe Egberts Black which are lovely and strong.

Sent from my mind with the help of HTC

Not big on instant, but i literally get out of bed and shoot off to work each morning, so i make a thermos of it just for my fix. The instant coffee I use for work is some Kenco "Rich" stuff. It's okay, but you don't get consistency with it; One batch might be alright, the next might taste like the stuff i'm watching Mr. Bean eat right this second...

This may be the issue i mentioned earlier of the instant degrading once it is opened. I used to have an office with the individual sachets and this was a big improvement over a jar that had been opened a while.

Honestly, if instant is all that's available I'd rather have tea.

I had a cheap espresso machine, and it was ok for the price, but as soon as I got an aeropress it just went unused so I gave it away.

I love espresso, but it's quite nice to save it for the occasions I get to visit a good coffee shop.

Another vote for the senseo. I have picked up some reusable plastic pods from eBay. You then can add whatever ground coffee you want and hey presto, fresh coffee with a lovely Creme layer on top.

Milicano at home for the instant and cheap and nasty Nescaf? original at work because it's free

When it's free, it's as good as it gets. I have a hard time drinking instant, but I can enjoy a cup of free without it being very bothersome as well.
Business in the front. Party in the back.

hey folks, i think we're loosing sight of the topic here! andy bigboned asked for recommendations for instant coffee, he doesn't have a fancy espresso machine, grinder etc etc! so far we've all suggested various pod machines, semi pro espresso machines, gourmet beans...... all he asked for was some suggestions for coffee better than gold blend!

                    again, andy, the recommendations are:
                    kenco millicano
                    nescafe azera
                    cafedirect machu picchu
                    kenco peruvian

all around ?3 in your local supermarket! hope this helps.....

Very pleased to hear the Machu Picchu is available as instant. I go between that and the Mayan Pelenque using an Aeropress.
If I'm being lazy, the Kenco Rich is quite tolerable; as is the Nescafe (or whoever makes it) Alta Rica.

Wow! I never realised that people here were that serious about coffee! I prefer not to drink instant, but never felt the need for a fancy espresso machine - a bog-standard cafetiere has always been good enough for me.

Anyway, when I'm in a hurry I drink Kenco Peruvian, which isn't too bad for an instant coffee.
If you want a midget to look like a baby, don't put a cigar in his mouth.

Is the Machu Picchu instant worth giving a go? I've had to give up on coffee at work altogether, once my little thermos is empty that is.

Saying that I have been rather enjoying the chocolate tea I got from tesco instead :-D

Guys, to keep this on topic I moved the espresso machine discussion here.

The best thing I have come across to improve instant is to buy sachets. The problem with the jars is they are not as nice once they have been open a couple of weeks. I think this is probably correct for all instants.

                              Kenco Costa Rica, great cup.

Someone ALWAYS, and I mean always, says it smells nice. Tastes great too. TO be honest I've had a french press for a few months now, but sometimes I still opt for an instant every now and then. To be honest, I think instants have upped their game alot!
