Can't see what's wrong with this. Sounds like a normal weekend at uni to me!

Nice to see your taxpayers money is being well spent providing security to a "normal lad " whilst having a perfectly normal life, High jinks in Vegas, used to do it every other weekend when I was at uni.
His Dad's not a twat though, he's far too smart for that, dodging his taxes and still being adored by the great unwashed who line his coffers.

No worries about the high jinks but the royals may 'pay tax' they also blow tax payers money with any trip to another country costing tens of thousands of pounds per seat, no easy jet for them methinks (yes security etc yada yada, but lets not pretend they scrimp any more than your average sheikh...)

The tourism they attract pays a thousand times over the taxes they receive from us.

They receive a thousand times more from us than the tourism they attract pays back.

Just as easy to say it the other way round

Only works my way, jubilee made tens of millions at least, they don't take that much when they travel to Vegas... and if they do it sounds amazing!

Cost of Queen's ceremonies 'unknown as yet' but UK citizens' £1m extra to sovereign grant is not total of public money spent

"The culture department has estimated that the extra bank holiday could cost Britain's ailing economy ?1.2bn."

That's a few times tens of millions for starters!

                    Then there's -

"British taxpayers, who financially support the Queen via the annual ?30m sovereign grant, have already contributed an additional ?1m this year to help with the costs of the diamond jubilee."

According to heritage tourism industry, it is estimated that tourism contributes around ?20.6 billion to the UK each year,

We wouldn't have half of that without the rich heritage and pull of the monarchy (and buildings such as buckingham palace, tower of london etc that are included in the soverign grant).

A bank holiday costing 1.2 bn is a small investment :P not to mention the qualititative benefits.

Funny how I'm coming out with facts or at least opinions of recognised bodies, and you stick your finger in the air and pull out numbers like 'half of tourism is due to us having a monarchy'...

Thats because it can't be quantified unless you ask every tourist in London. Let's face it, people don't come here for the weather or food

However brand finance state that the monarchy is intrinsically linked with 5 of the top 10 UK tourist hotspots so my estimate seems pretty good if not an undervalued effort!

                            This is aninteresting debate.
Im all for the Royal Family. I have no idea if they make or lose us money ( I kind of think they even each other out, but I really have plucked that out the air)

However if they are costing us money id still be fine with it. For me it?s about the history, identity, pride in my country and most of all tradition & respect. Its a lack of these values that imo have seen a rise in antisocial behavior, neighbors that have never spoke and teachers, nurses and firemen that cant come to-do there job with out the risk of being abused.

Some things are worth more than money......

Also what the hell would I sing at the start of an international????

Respect? Isn't the old boy the one whose embarrased the country on numerous occasions while travelling the globe and spouting racist and ignorant comments to all and sundry?

Just noticed the title and we're on 'Page 3', tickled me

                                lol,
Harry may be the 'black sheep' of the family. However everyone makes mistakes/is entitled to fun.
On the whole he carries himself well, serves his country all whilst knowing he will forever be in his brothers shadow.

also he didnt apply to become a prince......
