  • Your 5 favourite tracks

Ok, I know there are some muso's here on the forum so I thought it was about time we had a selection of our five favourite tracks.

To help to make this educational, please add links to You Tube (where available)

    I will kick off:
    1. Another Girl another planet – The Only Ones
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmodvpD-Cvs
Still going and by rights Peter Perret should have been dead years ago
    2. Small Hours – John Martyn
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYLVM560Fok
    Great music for bed time
    3. Down the road a piece – The Rolling Stones
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z7E78bdyhA
Look at those wriggly pretty boys in unfeasibly short trousers
    4. Move it on Over – George Thorogood and the Destroyers
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yV05IH3a4Bg
Great live, catch em if you can
    5. Crossroads – Cream
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQKOR9t9ynM
Just classic, Clapton must have been about 12
    Ok team, over to you!

    Interesting Tread, Amigo.

    Fantastic idea, senor NicWing!

It will require some thought, however, at least for me. Musiical taste can give some insight into the person. So choose wisely, muchachos!

My list will include something from the Beatles for sure, and probably the Eagles, and other groups from the 60s and 70s. I have to say however, you picked a pretty cool top five - Mr. NicWing, the hipster.

But hey, that's just me, TJ, TJCoro, and musically, I'm stuck in the past.

sigpicVaya con Dios, Amigos! - don TJ and the Coros

Mr Moore, if you haven't come across this before it will reward further investigation. The original version of this song is even better. It was recorded live at about 2.00 in the morning beside a lake and at one point you hear ducks flying by. I struggled to make it no 3 but in truth I can't pick between the top 4.

                Sheesh! Only 5?

                Funkadelic - Maggot Brain

Roy Buchanan - The Messiah Will Come Again
My favourite version of this song.Taken from his Rockpalast session on German Tv.This is wonderful...

Fleetwood Mac w/Peter Green & Danny Kirwan - Oh Well (Part 1) [couldn't find Part 2, which I like even better, on YouTube]
Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.

Santana - Europa (Earth's Cry, Heaven's Smile) [always have to stop what I'm doing to listen to any of the several renditions Carlos does]

Charlie Musselwhite - Christo Redemptor [short version from debut album with first minute wasted on boring organ, longer version on Tennesse Woman much better]
"Stand Back!" is Charlie's debut and probably the best album. It has magic as it captured a real and lasting feel for the harp blues.A killer album!!!

Good start, don't what ever you do buy any compilations (there are hundreds) and tracks are the classic tracks are repeated endlessly.

Ther is a fantastic DVD of his BBC appearances and keep a watch out on BBC 3 for a couple of documentaries doing the rounds.

Solid Air is just wonderful. In my top 3 albums of all time no worries!

                      In no particular order.
And my thoughts change every day.

HONKY CAT - ELTON JOHN (SOLO LIVE FROM 4m20)
He gets stoked up when soloing well and I find it inspiring. I pilfer his playing a lot. I think I've seen him play 18 times live. He is why I play keyboards and wear stacked heels.

DOLPHINS WERE MONKEYS - IAN BROWN
I love just about everything by Ian Brown, including all the Stone Roses stuff, so it was hard to zoom in on one track. Saw him live in Folkestone LMFAO a few years ago. Best gig I've ever been to.

GIMME SHELTER - ROLLING STONES (composite video)
I love the Stones. I loved seeing them play at Wembley in the 90s. A sequined party. I love this track particularly.

MISSTRA KNOW-IT-ALL - STEVIE WONDER (because we play this in our band)
Just bliss. Saw him at the 02 last year. Wonderful. Amazing musician.

THIS IS THE SEA - THE WATERBOYS
Love all their stuff because it makes me feel a bit sad, a bit tearful. I love music that does that. Talk Talk does that to me, too. Saw them live in Sheffield in the 80s and they were first class.

                      TELEGRAM SAM - T.REX
The first group I ever went mental for in 1972. Love Bolan. Love the guitar and the singing. Just lifts my mood every time I hear this.

KNOWING ME, KNOWING YOU - ABBA
I absolutely love Abba, and I love this tune... despite Alan! I love the camp movements, the naffness, the dated feel. Underneath all that, the music is top class.

I could have chosen hipper stuff but I'm in a rush at work.

                      Bryan
