  • What the hells going on!

So last Thursday night 3am to be precise I get a call from the police advising me my business is on fire! 30 mins later and I'm there, looking at the car park which is alight, more to the point 7 cars and a 40ft fridge bodied trailer. I cant describe how my heart sank at that moment. Luckily the building was unscathed due to the fast response of the fire brigade who thank god are based 3 mins away.

In the cold light of day I lost 7 cars and a trailer, thankfully no injuries to personnel. I have a sideline in motors which is an extra revenue stream and it all helps to keep things ticking over. Monitory loss was just under ?40k which was not insured as the sale of cars is not part of my regular or main business.

Due to police response and CCTV the culprits were caught making away from the scene. Now here's the clincher! Three males were caught, two of them were 14 yrs old and one was 12 yrs old!!!!!!

    Questions?
What the hell were 3 kids doing out at that time of night?
Where the hell was the parental control?
Why would anyone commit such an act to what benefit?

Regrettably as a direct consequence I've had to lay off two people because I cant afford to pay them, valued members of my staff through no fault their own. We are working even harder to get things back on an even keel so I can get these people back to work. Ill finish off where I started.... What the hells going on!

Man that absolutely blows I can't Inagine how gutted and sick to the stomach you must be especially as a father you are to have the questions you do. From my neck of the woods It would be customary to pay them youths a visit and have a conversation with their fathers about parental control and when the talking has finished knock 7 bags of shite out of em
In my day yada yada....... Little bastards

I sympathise with you there mate. My father runs a car dealership and deals with idiots and low lifes all the time. Cars stolen, property damaged and dids (irish travellers!) roaming the place for free shopping.

Its a tough world mate. People have no regard to property. Nuke the bastards I say!

I'm very sorry to hear about this, it must be incredibly stressful for you. In a more just society the parents of those feral kids would have to pay for all the damage caused, but unfortunately it's very likely that the culprits will get away with a slap on the wrist. I hope that it doesn't take too long to get your business back on track.

Thanks for the words of support guys I really appreciate them. The main part of the business was luckily unaffected. Ill start replacing the cars and get the car sales guys back to work. The kids had set fire to the diesel tank under the trailer which powered the on-board fridge unit. The explosion set the nearby cars off. The little shits climbed over an 8ft perimeter fence to do this and then climbed back to get away...I'm lost for words but not spirit. On the plus side I got ?1400 for the scrap cars today hooraaah!.

I trust they'll b echarged with arson at least? Sure with htat ion their records they'll never be troubling decent employers, just startng out to a life time of delinquincy. Can't imagine dropping 40K but as I have never employed anyone, I can only imagine what it's like to lay two good employees off. My commiserations. All I'd say is don't be like my company; they said when things picked up they would re-hire those made redunant. Within 3/12 they were taking guys on & not one from the old crowd & there were some good workers there along with the dross.

I can't understand what children of that age are doing outside at 3am, my son goes to bed at 8pm on a school night and 9pm otherwise. I think if they made the parents responsible to some extent there would be less of these incidents.
My commiserations to you and your staff, I hope you manage to pull through this quickly,

Man that sucks! What’s even more annoying as that nothing will happen to them...

I think their parents should take responsibility for their kids actions. Maybe then will they control their children.

Some parents seem show no responsibility these days and there really is no sense of shame in this society anymore. I hope you are able to get things back on track speedily.

Geez. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. To be honest, when I first started reading your post I thought it was going to be a joke along the lines of your cigar going up in fire one by one.

I wouldn't have dreamt of doing anything like that at that age, just mind boggling.

let's face it, children aren't children any more. As I said to my old boss back in 1989 when they announced that disciplining children was to be outlawed "well this is going to be the end"

I hope that the 1990's and 2000's becomes a period that we all look back on as the failed political correctness era that it is.

Sorry to hear this Dherm, makes my blood boil

This just reminded me of something that happened a while ago while taking my father on a shopping trip to Tesco. He is getting very absent minded now, can't get around much and also is starting to speak his mind about things in a not too subtle fashion.

So, walking around the ready meal isle in Tesco we hear the distinct sound of a child mid tantrum, turns out is mum has denied him any sweets.

My father, in his new found style, looks at me and loudly announces "If that was me I'd twat the little b@stard!".
