Over the last week or so TJ and I and more recently Robusto have been experimenting with Skype.

In groups of two we have so far managed to have video calls and as of about 8.00 this evening we broke new ground and had a three way conference call.

Our next stage, once Robusto has had his tea, is to try a 3 way video conference.

If you have Skype or if you can load it onto your PC and equip yourselves with a head set with a microphone, you can join the fun.

When you are ready, post a note here and TJ, Robusto and I will supply our email addresses to allow you to link/talk to us.

Who knows, this time next week a forum video smokeoff...

I have Skype but have yet to get a headset/camera. Will remedy this week. I've already added The Dawg and Robusto to my contacts

Do you know if you can include video when holding a skype conference call? We thought matbe it had something to do with bandwidth.

My tea was a bit of a porker's one so I didn't get back because of the wind. I've never managed to get Skype to mash its thing properly so this was fun. My laptop must be a bit crap because I have to wear a headset which is a bit prat. Great way to go three- four- or howevermany-way hey hey hey.

Yes, you can, you must check the following things.

1. You have a webcam and it is installed correctly
2. it must be selected in skype, this can be done by going to the following Drop Down menu > Tools > options. Then selecting the video section. on the right hand window of this box ensure that the webcam is selected as the default video device and the option start video automatically is also selected. there is a button to test the webcam in which it will return your image.
3. the video is not governed by bandwidth, it would just be slow and jumpy.
3. you must be fully clothed at all times.

Yes, if its intgrated it would already be installed in windows with the correct drivers, providing you bought the laptop from new and windows has not been reinstalled since by an amateur. you would still need to select it as in step 2 of my earlier post.
with regards to your headset. you shouldnt need to wear one even if your laptop does not have a mic. I am assuming that it has speakers if the web cam is built in I'm surprised it does not have a mic. I use a small desktop mic with my laptop which plugs into a 3.5mm jack socket on the laptop the same place you would plug the headset into.
What make and model is your laptop? I will look up the spec for a better idea on how best to set it up for you.

It's an Acer Aspiron 4-figure thing. It's pretty good spec, but the speakers and mic have always been a bit toytown. I can't get much response from them.

Am at work so can't be concise about the model number til later.
