  • I think I've stopped smoking!

Cigarettes, that is! And I say "think" because I hadn't intended or planned on stopping,it just sort of seems to have happened and it'll be a week tomorrow since my last one.I've certainly been enjoying them less & less & less for a long time now and I've really only been having them at very specific points in the day,on my work break in particular.I guess I knew the time was coming but I've been loath to make a concrete decision for the purely psychological worry that self-denial would increase craving and therefore diminish the chances of success, all very silly really! But,it seems to have petered out all on its own.As I said it's been a week,I don't want or fancy one even with sitting here writing/thinking about it so here's hoping it stays that way

Congrats great to hear you're not craving! It was one of the hardest things I ever did! Let us know how you get on over the coming days and weeks

Thanks fellas and Steve you're 100% right mate!! For a really long time now I've regularly had that "why the hell am I doing this" feeling about it and, worse than that, having one and then just feeling physically not right for about 10 minutes afterwards and wishing that I hadn't done it.I think you just sometimes know when it's time to turn it in!

Congratulations! It's about 2 years since I last had a fag and giving them up is definitely one of the best (and hardest) things I've ever done. Now I can actually taste the cigars that I smoke, and smoking has become a luxury rather than a necessity. I still get the occasional craving for a cigarette (when I've had a few pints), but that's what Cuban minis are for!

Saw the thread title and going to ask if the fire brigade helped.... But then I read the thread.

              Congratulations.

                  Well done buddy.

I've been off the cigs for 1 month and 1 week now.

I still have my bad days but I have joined the gym and find it a great way of taking my mind off it.

I have quit in the past, so know the difference it makes to cigar smoking when you have given up

Good for you and keep it up.

I stopped the fags earlier this year - after quitting I didn't smoke anything for a month and then returned to the cigars.
I have found that at times when I still get the occasional momentary craving, I just think about and look forward to a cigar and that takes my mind off it.

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

Well done mate. I've not had a cigarette in about 5 years, one of the best things I've ever done.

Good stuff Mike! I found it hard but quit and have quit many times. I only have a few once every three weeks when my guitarist smokes. That'll change once I get cuban minis though!

Good to hear Vorty , ive never smoked ciggies though should imagine the habit side of things can be substituted by smoking Cigars also a lesser nicotine fix from Habanos would greatly help . I dont see how people can smoke both when the taste is so different , smoking cigarettes must be torture . Ive always promoted Cigar smoking mainly to relax, now I shall add, a great way to give up fags. [sorry to BOTL across the pond they love fags in these parts ].
