  • Heathrow/gatwick cigars

Good morning (or afternoon depending when you are reading this), I have recently discovered a passion for fine cigars and I was hoping you could answer this question for me.

I plan on buying a humidor next month and stocking it with a selection of cigars, I am also fortunate to be going on holiday to Bali at the end of next month and will be travelling through either heathrow or gatwick.

From what I can remember some of the heathrow terminals have got a pretty decent cigar shop but I was hoping somebody could guide me as to what the selection was like and what the prices were like? Should I wait untill I go on holiday and buy my cigars at the duty free shop? also how many cigars can you bring back duty free? And most importantly what should I plan on stocking in my new humidor?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I remember there not being much at Gatwick, and it won't be that cheap either. Hm. I would suggest looking at the sites we recommend on the forum (

I was wondering if it would be cheaper as it's duty free but I also remember comming back from South Africa they were about half the price in the duty free there than they were in the small duty free when we came back through heathrow.

It was the small box of monte cristos I bought in SA that got me hooked. Now it is business critical I have some good smokes in Bali!

          Duty free.

          Xan,
Heathrow shop does have a large walk in humidor and the staff are helpfull, i am in Heathrow twice a month and the cigar shop does stock a good varied selection of cigars. The prices are certainly cheaper than in the high street UK prices but i would still be tempted to buy in another market, you mentioned South Africa and i have a few workmates who live there and smoke cigars.I know there are some bargains to be had down there.Perhaps you could buy a small selection at Heathrow to keep you going on holiday?

Yeah I was planning on buying a handful for holiday, just didn't want to get there and realise I couldn't get any which wouldn't be good as I'm looking forward to sitting by the pool smoking a nice robusto most days.

I'll probably buy a selection as, so far, I've mostly had monte's and cohibas then buy a box when I get back.
