Erm, I know what you're saying but I think it would get a bit messy! I could recommend, say 10 cigars, but someone else may only like 2 of them because everyone has different tastes etc. I think that it could work if a few things were changed. But just a thread with a list of cigars on would not imo. The only way to find what you like I have found is to try the staples (Monte 4, RyJ No.2 etc) and see what brands you like and expand on that. Just my tuppence
A cigar is not measured by its cost - It is measured by how much it burns your fingers
Arturo Fuente Cubanito: Miniature powerhouses. 4", 30g, smoke for about half an hour, are about ?30 for a tin of ten, and are tasty as HELL!!! . THE best value cigars on the English market. Even better than lots of Cubans five times their price.
An obvious one: Partagas P2
Weird one: La Rica Robusto. Beautiful peppery taste. For certain moods.
Unusual one: 3 X 3 Tubos Corona. Cheap, tasty, and one of the most well constructed cigars i have ever seen.
I like Yeti's idea of a ranking system. Would be a sort of reccomendation system as you could see what has high ratings, and because the scores are averaged you can get a more 'reliable' score as a lot of peoples opinions would be averaged

Something like this would be a good idea...i think it would be worth a try
Ok, I can hear a certain disquiet. What about our favourite NCs? Well, if we're really honest maybe a half handful might make it into the 100 list .... and anyway who need a list of ten thousand minor league cigars?
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

It is such a subjective thing. When I started out I craved lists and reviews to try to find a way through the minefield of choices.
The reality is there is loads of information already published and no single guide is going to change your world. Take a chance buy and smoke and soon you will develop your own opinions.
As you develop in this hobby the goal-posts move. It soon becomes not enough for Ann Other review to make you go out and buy. Ageing and speculation starts filling your mind. Standards and expectations shift and more money is spent.
I used to rate cigars based on limited experience and pallet, publish my findings and get a bunch of comments agreeing with my findings. I suspect I would dump some of those sticks I raved about now.
....I am probably rambling but what I am trying to say is buy, smoke and enjoy and in time if someone else scores a given stick 89 or 94 will become far less relevant
