  • Do you have many cigar-smoking buds away from this forum?

    I'm just curious.
This thought stemmed from reflecting on how useful the web is generally for stuff like what we do, like.

    Ich heisse Bryan.

I have no cigar-smoking members of my family.

I used to have two teacher friends I would herf with in pubs every couple of months but they moved to jobs across the County - so no more.

I have one musician friend masterorock (piss poor member of this site!) and I herf with him every other month or so. He does like Cubans, but falls back to rolling tobacco if he runs out. Trapped in the ciggies.

I see Nic Wing every two or three months down here in Kent or in London. I can see Paul Stogiedog quite easily and at short notice as he just lives on the other side of Dover. I consider both as mates.

So that means that - in the flesh - I know no more than three kosher cigar smokers.

In my mind, us lot gather as if in the cigar lounge I sat in yesterday afternoon. It's better to type and post and learn like this rather than to sit looking at the mist smoking and sobbing in a traumatic friend-lacking way, yes?

Thank God it's also a superb thing to do when you want to be all alone.

    Agreed.

I have never hidden the fact that i smoke cigars from anyone and i think that most people honestly don`t understand or just don`t get it in general.
I have found it entertaining, funny, sad and revealing in the way which people interact on this site and although i am a newbie on the site i like to think i have a fairly good basic knowledge of cigars, which has been gained over years of reading books and articles on cigars and luckily being in the position to try the ones i fancied.I have no direct contact with any one who smoke cigars on a regular basis and this is why i have found this site so refreshing.

My own knowledge has certainly been improved while reading through the inputs from other members and i have enjoyed the interaction between the various members.

IMO the whole cigar smoking culture is like an underground thing now and of recent years this has become even more so, that is why the importance of being part of a group who are like minded individuals who understand the pleasures of cigars cannot be understated.

I can think of two. One was the chap who got me into this in the first place by giving me two cigars. The other, a lady no less, is a close friend who I often enjoy many of the finer in things in life with.

I don't know anyone around here that smokes cigars. Rarely seen before the smoking ban, and then it was just the usual supermarket stuff, now it's completely disappeared.

I have no cigar smoking pals or family. in fact I know very few smokers of anything. I've smoked cigars for 15 years and nearly always been the only one smoking...

however.... many of my friends would tell you cigars are the least of my eccentricities. lol

Got a guy I met in Canada that I keep in touch via email. He likes a stick and I should get him on the forum. Not sure about his tastes, as he gets all his when he goes to Cuba (about three times a year, lucky bugger): they are 'out the back door' of a factory, possibly Montes. As they've no labels, I can't say what they'd be, but we smoked a few off together and they were tasty, all Robustos. Still got one nestling in the humi

              Amen to all that, Whisk.

Leaving the house at 0600 to get across to the DAWG.
Easy, unless the French fishermen start their games and block Dover yet again.

Please note it takes two hours from Deal to Central London by train.
Dale - I want you to fix it!
