In a couple of weeks me and four friends (well me, my Dad and three of our friends) are going on our annual holiday to Scotland. This is a proper holiday, no women.
We are staying just north west of Inverness this year, our 14th holiday together.
We do a bit of touring, a bit of birding, a bit of walking, a bit of golf, some photography, a lot of laughing and a lot of whisky drinking.
On our itinerary this year is:
1. Distilleries
Clynelish / Brora distillery to do the special tour
Balblair, Glenmorangie, Dalmore and Ord.
We have been to them all before but are happy to revisit. When we went to Balblair it wasn't open to visitors officially, they have a visitor centre now so that will be interesting. We are all excited about the Brora - it is a bit more than your usual ?5 tour at ?20 but there are some special drams to taste.
2. Golf
We are going to book a day at Royal Dornoch to play both the Championshiop course and the Struie.
Where we are staying has it's own 9 hole course so we'll be practising a lot there I would have thought.
3. Boat Trip
We are hoping to get a trip on a RIB from Cromarty Firth out into the North Sea. We might be a bit early in the year though.
4. Football
Cally are at home on the Wednesday of our week so we'll be going to the game.
I'm the only cigar smoker but will be filling my 10 stick caddy to take with me for an evening smoke with a beer / whisky on the patio.
We will be visiting the Falls of Shin and spending a day on the Black Isle with a visit to the Brewery. Two of the lads want to visit Culloden but I've been a couple of times before so might give that a miss, mind the battlefield is a bit of a spooky place. My Dad is the birder so he's planning trips to the Firths so he can do some sea watching. We are also looking to see if we can spend an evening on the Aigas estate to look for Pine Martin, Badger and Beaver but I need to check to see if they are running any events that week.
Anyone got any tips of other places of interest to visit?
Cheers
John
