I have however, built every PC Ive had in the past 8 years, and I always find I need one windows PC around, for my music production needs. I could do most of what I require with a steady Mac Pro, but I prefer being able to build and tweak my PC to just what I need. I don't do much PC gaming, but when I do, its always on the PC. My windows PCs have always been built to be the most powerful graphics wise in my computer family, so it would be a shame not to use it hehe!

My wife has been toying with the idea of getting a Mac for her next laptop and to be honest it would do everything she needs as any gaming she does is browser based and other than that it would mainly get used for watching TV shows.
However a Mac would not be good for me at all as I play a lot of games that are either not made for Mac OS or just wouldn't run on the type of Mac I could afford. Sure, I know I could put windows on it instead of Mac OS but then what's the point in having a Mac?
I prefer to build my own systems now and whilst the savings for going that route are nothing like they used to be, in fact it is going more the opposite way now (especially when you start looking into high end parts) but this way I know exactly what I am putting in there and I know that the parts will be a known brand and reliable and the resulting PC will not be built to the lowest price possible.Lo there do I see my Father. Lo there do I see my Mother, and my Sisters and my Brothers. Lo there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning. Lo they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them, in the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

Yeah, gone are the days where you'd save half your costs just by clicking the parts together, bit of a shame, but I remember the fun (!) I had with master and slave drives, literally millions of different types of RAM, dumb cabling where it really mattered which of the thousands of plugs on the one cable went into which drive, jumpers by the truck load, and the dozens of BIOS, driver, and general other gumpf errors I got before things got going... (disclaimer - this was when I was in my teens and the figures quoted may have been exagerated just a tad)

Skyrim does look good, oh god just what I need another time sync, I just canceled my two online game subscriptions last nightafter 4 years of playing
The new Star Wars MMO looks pretty neat and I just got accepted for Beta testing
I too build my own PC's you can just get so much more out of them, I still have my first watercooled rig at the office I currently have 3 gaming PC's at home which just goes to show how sad I really am Oh and the 12TB networked HTPC that runs all my audio visual needs The great thing is that when girlie visits she doesn't have a clue how to work any of itSent from my Ouija Board.

Kind of enjoying Skyrim, very pretty and well thought out but finding it a bit sllloooowwwww....
I got on the Beta for star wars as well, probably this weekend I think, as did a mate here, and you... Anyone actually apply and Not get on the Beta testing??? Also read a lot of stuff about it and could have serious issues, then again games work like that these days don't they, buy it when new expecting to be patched and working/fun within 12 months or so
So why the need for 3 gaming PCs? Multiboxing? loon And I only have 6TB!

Nice set up BY, EVE is a game I've always wanted to get into but every time I gave up after a couple of weeks, just couldn't find my footing.

I did a very early beta test for The Old Republic and also have one for the next beta, the tests upcoming are stress tests so everyone who has bought or pre-ordered an EA game recently have an invite.
It will be interesting to see what they have changed in nine months, last time I tried the only playable classes were Trooper and Smuggler and only starter levels.
Just installed Battlefield 3, now to get my Saitek X52 configuredExploring the world - one smoke at a time.

I'm only a little way through Skyrim currently, as after being caught, I've had to sneak in the time whilst I could lol! Im only upto level 7 I think, Im still just trying to find my footing before I start deciding what direction I want my character to head in. My thoughts so far, are it is undoubtedly bloody stunning. I do love just how vast the playing area is. The only problem is, I keep stopping every two seconds to look around! With it being so vast however it just come off as a little slow. So far in the early part, when you are still being taught various skills, although required...Its a bit dull having to press a button, wait for him to perform the skill, go back to the conversation, go and do another task, come back etc....I'm coming to grips with it now though I think. I went mad and collected everything I could at the start, as I didn't know if it was needed or not...then after about 2 minutes, was carrying way too much weight. I also have sooo many books on me...Just need to decide whether to read them all or not now! It is good fun, Im just oping its able to keep my attention for the time required to get through the game!

I managed to play a bit of TOR beta this weekend, they have improved it a lot since I last tried. Decent frame rates, the only time I got any lag was in the Sith Bounty Hunter starter zone, I reckon most people are playing Sith.
I levelled a Jedi Knight to 9, Sith Inquisitor to 10 and Sith Bounty Hunter to 11. The dark side story arc's are definitely more entertaining & grittier, the Republic side voice acting is a little too twee and goody goody.
PvP Scenarios are pretty much a copy of sc's from WAR: Age of Reckoning, which is no bad thing, I really enjoyed popping into them to break up the quest/story time.

Never played Galaxies but SWTOR seems pretty good, didn't get any lag or frame rate issues, only leveled one toon, a sith inquisitor, to level 12... Doesn't seem the most intuitive of games in so far as it has to give you really obvious map markers or you wouldn't have a clue where you were going. And you have to listen to a lot of voice acting spiel for all the quests and to progress the story line which in some ways is fine, it will definitely discourage power levellers, but it also wouldn't make me likely to want to level a bunch of characters if I have to spend that much time with the story as well as the action. But that's just the impatient me!
Action is more involving that Warcraft for example, doesn't seem to be the same level of point-click-autohit but more keep clicking and doing stuff or you stand there like a dummy being beat on. Had to go dark side of course, have yet to see what impact the dark/light side style points and social points will have on the game but could be interesting.
Likely to give this one a go come go-live though it will surely be a huge time sink which could be a problem
Oh and Yeti, if you had any time left at all Skyrim looks like it could use it all up and then some for the foreseeable future, for your sake you might want to avoid adding swtor to that as well!!
