  • I think its best I keep the other half in the dark...

No....I haven't locked her in the closet and turned the light off...

However, whilst shopping on Friday, as she was trying some clothes on, I made a super sonic dash across to the shop opposite and picked up Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3 and Uncharted 3! Managed to hide them in another bag and get back to the changing rooms before she had finished...Result!

I just now need to find an excuse as to why I will have zero work completed from home this week, as already, I cant put Skyrim down, and I haven't even started on the others yet.

Oh, the things we hide from our relevant others for an easy life!

Nice choices, though you really don't wan a life for a while do you! MW3 and Uncharted 3 are probably just more of the same... Have played some Skyrim on PC and it's really gonna be a black hole for your time! Not sure if it's a bit too crazy in depth for me for a one player game, standard stats, equipment stats, skill stats, talent trees for each skill, force words, dragon souls, spells, professions, etc etc!!!

Fortunately, its thanksgiving this week, so its fairly quiet, so I needed something to keep me entertained! You're completely right though, I can already feel my time slipping away through my fingers! I'm not expecting too much from MW3, I decided to grab it as I had some money on a gift card, so only paid half price for it and its always good to have around. From everything I have heard so far, Uncharted 3 has the makings for a possible game of the year, and some of the I saw when I was in the store, looked ace....so I'm actually counting down the minutes until I can wave the misses off to work, and pop it in and have a look haha!

*I've just heard on the news there is some serious traffic your way hun, you probably want to leave a bit earlier today*

      I think she bought it.

I haven't actually played Elder Scrolls for almost 10 years. I just never got into the last few releases. Everyone was chatting about this release for a while though, so thought I would give it a go! There is so much depth to it, its safe to say im lost already. Im looking forward to spending some proper time with it this week though, Im sure it will all come back to me quick enough. I'm already planning my first step onto the property ladder...and hunting out the girl I shall call my wife (another reason not to tell the misses!)

My first time in the land of Elder Scrolls, been a warcraft loon for about 6 years but cancelled that now so looking for other thing. Looks pretty good but I don't want to go getting my life back from warcraft then just chucking it straight into another game though it does run beautifully with everything on ultra on my new rig

I've resisted trying Skyrim, I loved the earlier Elder Scrolls games but while I thought I liked oblivion for soome reason I never finished it, the same with Fallout 3.

Having weaned myself off online games for a few years after burning out on Battlefield 2 ladder matches, I've just succumbed to ordering Battlefield 3, hopefully I wont get too hooked

On a side note, part of the reason I was drawn to my now wife was her response on initially meeting, when I mentioned I liked PC gaming, "Oh I play a few games, I've just finished Half-Life" ..... The rest as they say is history!

Skyrim is nothing short of beautiful. I was like a little kid again when I checked my bank account at the weekend and saw that I didn't have to wait until payday to get it. Not played it too much yet, only about level 6 so far, but it is incredible in how much detail they have managed to pack into the world. You can catch the butterflies and bees that you see and watch the salmon jumping up the waterfalls. It took me the best part of an hour to run across about 1/4 of the map last night, partly because it is a long way and secondly because I was stopping every so often to have a look around.

Sure the character animations leave a little to be desired but that is just a side effect of an older game engine but the voice acting is spot on and I have not heard two people sound the same yet. Add all this into the heavy old Norse feel of Skyrim and I could (and will) spend hours playing this.

Can't wait to see what some of the modding community will be doing with hi res texture packs, I have already seen one for the water that is amazing.

You sir, are a terrible terrible man....I had completely forgot the new Assassins Creed had come out. Therefore IF my misses finds out that I have just run down the road and bought that too....I'm blaming you and sending her your way!!!

I don't think i'll be buying anything else for a year now, that should see me through. Unless the new Tiger Woods comes out in March again!

Its 4:17am...And I have just been found out! The misses woke up in the night, to find I had sneaked to the living room and caught me in the middle of a skyrim session! Oooops! Going to attempt to convince her it was all a dream when she wakes up!

What spec rig are you running currently? Its time for me to start thinking about my next build, as my current desktop rig is about 3 years old now, and its time for an update, as my desktop sits in my studio and is used for a huge amount of music production, so I need to get it up to date!

Ah Skyrim, if only I could lock myself in the house for month and devote some proper time to it. The other half and our daughter would probably have something to say about that!

I was a big fan of Morrowind but Oblivion left me cold for one reason or another. Skyrim has brought the magic back and it arrived not long after I'd built myself a new machine... what a coincidence!

I'm running an i7 2600 with 8Gb of Corsair RAM and a Radeon HD6870. Got it set to Ultra and it looks and plays great.

I might give it a go on ultra later this evening. I have it set on high at the moment and everything is ticking along very smoothly.

I am running an i7 920 with 6GB RAM and an Nvidia GTX460 1GB so it might manage it.

I would LOVE to try it on the PC I am sitting in front of at the moment, Dual quad core Xeons with 16GB memory and a GTX580 1.5GB card and an HP pro grade 1600x1200 monitor. The joys of a CAD workstation

Though the wired2fire bods do a great overclocking and tuning job on em... am intending on doubling up the memory and graphics when I need to but skyrim doesn't even faze it atm...
