  • Any computer geeks out there?

I know some of you are 'in the business'

Adobe reader keeps grabbing the processor on my Windows PC even when I have closed all Adobe documents. Anyone got any bright ideas, I am up to date on my Adobe updates but this is sending my processor crazy and burning up my PC if I don't go to the Windows task manager and shut it down every time the PC 'goes off on one'

Which process is actually using the CPU, adobeupdater.exe?

As Zigatoh notes, this is probably the adobeupdater.exe causing it. It is a rather old known issue.
Start the program, go to preferences and un-check the autocheck for updates.

Is it just PDFs you're viewing or is it flash/photoshop or what?

Not sure what it is (as I have closed it down) will make a note next time.

Deano, as far as I know it happens when I have been viewing PDF docs, I don't use Photoshop but it may be flash working on something I viewed.

OK boys, it's happened again. The process is AcroRd32.exe, it's grabbing huge amounts of processor an 19,000k of memory. All I am aware of doing is opening (and properly closing) two Adobe docs.

            Any thoughts?

              Any good

A simple change will prevent Acrobat reader from staying resident in memory and uses your resources. Make your PC faster.

Ta BY, off to try that now.

This is why I love my cigar buds!

Now does anyone have a killer flapjack recipe?

                  Another Bug?

If you don't mind, I have another issue I'd like to ask our forum geeks on this thread.

I am trying to download the latest version of itunes (10.5), but it seens to hang up towards the end of the install. I looked at the processes that are running in Task Manager and found that AVP.EXE is gobbling up most of the CPU. I think it has something to do with Kaspersky, my anti-virus software, but I don't know what it is doing.

Is anyone familiar with avp.exe and is it preventing me from installing itunes latest version 10.5?

                  Gracias amigos

Downloading Itunes to an iphone 4s

Well, even though the Install Wizard appeared to be cranking, it actually had installed the itunes update. Now the problem is I can't download my itunes music to my iphone 4s. It syncs up, but quits after that. I've tried to do this on two computers with no luck.

I'll keep searching the web for solutions, but if anyone else has experienced this problem, I'd be interested in how they solved it.

                        TJ

There are huge issues with iTunes 10.5 currently with amongst others being AMD processors that are updated having distorted audio on all music not downloaded from the iTunes Store as this version is the first to move away from using real player for its audio settings as well as the upgrade issues you have seen

I have 5000 unplayable tracks now, my suggestion is do not upgrade until the issues are sorted as its been three weeks and still no response from Apple on my issues with threads all over the Apple forums on related issues.

Let other people have the grief first

                        Regards

                        Simon

Dang It! I already upgraded three computers to 10.5. Oh well, onward and upward, I guess.

On another note, I came a cross a nice software program that allows you to upload from your ipod/iphone, ipad to itunes on three different computers - something Apple should do but doesn't.

I had been trying for months now to move my itunes library from an old computer to a new one without success, until I used this software.

For $30 americano bucks, that ain't bad!

                          You can see it HERE!

                          Cheers!

                              Hee-hee! Good one, senor dreamweaver.

Well, muchachos....this is a bit embarrasing. After spending all day on various sites reading all kinds of so-called solutions, the most drastic being remove and replace itunes, tonight I finally was put in contact with an Apple Super Geek.

I gave the lad access to view my computer screen and after a few clicks of the mouse, he noticed that a teeny weeny "sync" box in the "music" drop-down screen was not checked. Consequently, not checking the "sync" box causes the sync function not to work.

                              Huh! Imagine that!

Any-hoo, I thought it would be best to fess-up in the event there are other schmoes....errr, I mean, Fine Gents out there in puro land experiencing the same problem.

Names Perro, el Perro, and nobody ever accused me of being a member of the "Geek Squad!"
