  • Ostrich

Just a word from the not so wise.

I have today found that sitting in your office and consuming 1/2lb of ostrich biltong is a really bad idea.
Picture the Alien scene with John Hurt but with the yeti in his place.....yep, that's how i feel

    End of public service announcement.

    Lol.
    Lovely.

Im a big fan of beef jerky [despite actually eating a few mouldy bits every now and then! top tip, never eat straight out of the bag, ALWAYS pour into a bowl if eating when watching a film in the dark etc.]

Also like diffenent types of biltong, but not had ostrich.

I take it that its rather good due to large consumption?? lol

Yeah it was great, I love that Ostrich is fat and cholesterol free

I ate ostrich kebab once and didn't enjoy it much to be honest. Could have been something to do with the lukewarm barbecue it was prepared on though

Cobra - now that was a tasty meal

We used to be able to get Ostrich in a local restaurant, not too bad but preferred the antelope. Best creature I ever ate though was in Iceland, Puffin marinated in a licorice sauce, divine!

It has been ages since I tried some biltong or jerky, next shop visit I know what will be going in my trolley.

There's a great restaurant in Leith, Edinburgh called Kublai Khan that sells all kinds of exotic meats: alligator, springbok, zebra, emu and ostrich etc. Bizarre (but tasty)

Reminds me of a restaurant I visit in Nairobi, called simply "Carnivores".
They just keep coming round with all sorts of exotic meat and carve it direct onto your plate.... until you raise a little flag in the middle of the table that means "I surrender. I just can't eat any more".

I do love some ostrich now and then when I can get my hands on it. I used to live near an ostrich farmer so used to have easy access, not so much anymore though.
