Che Guevara VS Fidel Castro

Good Evening.

I have been thinking to myself and wonder why for the last few days

why is it that che guevara is the face of cuba and its cigars when fidel castro was as much if not more of a smoker and a rebel as che was.

Alot of people still think Che was cuban when infact he was from argentina.

so why?

He was far better looking than Fidel and I'm sure if it wasn't for 'that' photograph he wouldn't have risen to such iconic status around the world.

Che Guevara is certainly not "the face of cuba". He reached the status of an icon of "adolescent revolutionary romanticism" that goes well beyond the scope of Cuba…
And yes, the famous picture taken by Alberto Korda (and later the painting by Fitzpatrick based on the same photo) certainly helped.

che was kinda like the 'poster boy' of the revolution....... plus he was way more militant than fidel!!! fidel even admitted that che's idealism was the driving force behind the revolution!!! he was a mean, hardline motherf**ker who accepted nothing less than total commitment to castro and the cuban revolution!!! you gotta read jon lee anderson's biography to really understand this situation better:
