Blimey Steve, that is a shit load of watches. I only have the one wrist garment, that being the Suunto D6, more of a dive computer than a watch, but its a beaut.

Stevieboy, another hobby of mine is music, that can be considered cheap if you keep it strictly radio. When I say Radio, I mean BBC6 Music, there is nothing else worth listening to IMO, at the moment.

Cooking, intoxicants, ladies, money and outdoor stuff. I love to read too and am currently going through the Len Deighton books.

In terms of academics, mechanics and chemistry are my two main areas of interest, I like to especially explore mechanics, more quantum than classical but I'm not sure how many UKCF users share my passion with mathematics. I sound quite nerdy, I'm not but mechanics holds the answers to the "mysteries" of the universe(s), that's why I find it so interesting... knowing that theories such as time travel could be possible, is there life after death (i.e. is the "soul" comprised of universal fabric) or even simpler questions such as "what's out there?". Chemistry.. I'm a bit of a pyro.

I'm sure we'd have a lot to talk about!

I like cheaper stuff! Cheaper stuff means I can ruddy well afford it!

Reading - yup, currently blowing my brains out with 'a brief history of time' - nice and easy to read, but to an observer I must appear to be moving very slowly as the theories fly past my head at something rapidly approaching the speed of stupid...

Also a keen gym go-er, working in IT at David Lloyd Leisure helps classes at lunch time break the day up nicely, oh and try and get out for a 10K like the herts 10K coming up in october a few times a year...

Walking is good, preferably broken into nice chunks by pubs! The blackberry picking is good atm (that's fruit, not electronic communication equipment left by the side of the road...). Sloe's are coming on early this year too but I'd still leave em a bit for the gin making.

Travel, whenever possible, Lisbon is a favourite place to return too, but love the small castle city places like Dubrovnik and Carcasonne. Ok so that one's not always cheap but it can be, lisbon - flgiht costs, Holiday Inn points from work to pay for hotel, then just food

How the hell are you still doing practical pistol? Are you section 7 or have the long barrel/stock pistol things? I have two black-powder revolvers but damned if I want to do a practical course of fire with them.

I gave practical shotgun a go but dropped it after university as no club near me. Also the turned out to be some of weirdest people I have met. I had a Franchi SPAS 12 I paid peanuts for but was a heap of poo.

Ah Carcassonne. I have a peculiar link to that city... You certainly can't go wrong with a bit of travel - I've certainly set my sights on 'old Europe' as my next challenge - perhaps some modern day 'grand tour'. I recently read an article on the BBC website about 'InterRailing', which sounds like it should be a fun way to spend a couple of weeks.

Whilst we're on the 'cheaper stuff'... though, I maintain that skiing and sailing are cheap for me (actually, skiing is profitable!)... Anyway, I do enjoy a spot of reading, and have been on a bit of an American literary kick at the moment, exploring the likes of F Scott Fitzgerald, JD Salinger and Mark Twain. Generally I like anything from before the Second World War or action packed modern stuff (Bernard Cornwell, Andy McNab etc). Huge fan of Evelyn Waugh and, especially, PG Wodehouse. I'm also a keen walker/hiker, though that's taken a back seat until my knee op is done - which is, unfortunately, AFTER I've been to the Lake District... Trying to find a replacement pair of boots after my last pair finally gave out after over 10,000 miles had been done in them. I was bloody impressed with that, as most of it was on the unforgiving rocks of the Lakes, Dartmoor and the Highlands. Unfortunately they're an Italian manufacturer, and it's impossible to find them in the UK (which is silly, because they're probably cheaper than Scarpa, but better!)

Wha...!!!??? Agree that the big two are not very good at the moment (utterly awful is an understatement which springs to mind when I think of Radio One). However, Radio Three is fine (though I prefer Classic FM, despite the adverts), and you can't go wrong with Radio Four (accepting that there is no music). In fact, I've been listening to BX93 a lot recently (it's a Canadian country-music station, for the record).

Long barrel revolver and the real thing in certain parts if the UK. Prac shotgun is strange in certain clubs. If its shot under IPSC rules then it has less wierdos.

Am I the only shooter that thinks that 'practical' shooting is downing pheasant for the pot. Running around like a wannabe pongo, shooting at steel targets is hardly practical... No wonder it attracts so many nutters... Should be an automatic disbarment from being issued a FAC in my book... (Does look like good fun though... )

If shot under IPSC rules it is a sport in its own right. If someone turns up in military-type dress they will be sent home as it's specifically banned under the rules.

Its the club practical style shooting that attracts the nutters.

My main interests are reading, films and music.

I read various stuff, depends on my mood. I rather enjoy reading stuff by Jack Kerouac, Hunter S Thompson, Philip K. Dick, H. P. Lovecraft... that kind of thing really.

Film wise I love cult Italian stuff from the 60s and 70s (Spaghetti Westerns, Gialli, Horror, Crrime Thrillers) and lots of other stuff. It may sound a bit silly but most films made after the mid 80s do very little for me.

Loads of music.
