  • Friend off to Cuba

Hi there, my friend is off to Cuba in the next few weeks or so, and I have asked him to bring me back some Robustos, the only cigars I smoke.

However as he is going, I was wondering what other types of cigars should I ask him to bring back. I only smoke Robustos, but feel i'm missing out on a whole world of cigars.

Can anyone, and i'm sure you all can, recommend any other cigars I could tell him to get, just to try? I like Robustos and don't really want to go too far away from that kind of smooth taste, but any recommendations would be appreciated

If you like robustos, then stick with same. There are plenty of manufactures of that vitola which I suspect you haven't tried. To risky to purchase a box unless you've already smoked same. And transporting loose/singles can be fraught with problems unless you know what you're doing-IMHO. Cigars mean all things to all men

      Good advice thanks Moon

How about some recommendations of cigars I can purchase in London to try, and then if I liked I could get him to get a box out in Cuba?

I just feel like I need to try some others, variety is the spice of life after all

Well Ejames, make sure that you know a Robusto is the size and shape of a cigar. It's quite a sweeping statement to say you like just one vitola...each make is very different.

Try to find the brand you like. E.g. Cohiba, Partagas etc, and try another vitola (size/shape) of that brand.

An Individuals cigar allowance coming from outside the EU is 50 cigars. Unless your significant other choses not to use hers & then you can claims hers too.

So basically, if he is travelling alone he can only bring back 50 cigars? Best make sure he doesn't bring back any himself

If your mate is interested, I have just returned from Cuba with a few extra CUC's (Convertable Peso's) - About ?60 worth due to a slight miscalculation. PM me and I will do him a good deal to get rid of them as I am not planning to go back until November.
