Disappointing Edmundo.

Had my first Edmuno for a while last night and I was really looking forward to it. It was dated around the start of 2009.

I felt it lacked the spicy notes I normally associate with Montecristo and although I initially paired it up with an XO Cognac it failed to impress on the taste front.

About half way through the smoke I then changed drinks, thinking that something sweeter might help to emphasize the tastes, so i went with a small glass of Port. This seemed to make little difference on the taste front and although the cigar burned really well I still felt underwhelmed in general.

Having smoked an 08 box last year which were fantastic, this was a big let down.

Hopefully this was just a one off, or my taste buds were failing me. Has anyone else experienced problems with Edmundos from the 2009 crop?

I have had about three from a box from ABR 09 and i have to say I really enjoyed them, typical monte spice and very creamy. I know they are not everybody's cup of tea but I do have a soft spot for the Edmundo. Cheers.

I'm not a fan of the edmundo...just finished a box that, to be honest, i'll be glad to see the back of... however the Petit Edmundo is something else completely. It's great!

I fell exactly the same, don't know why but IMHO Edmundo's suck and Petit Edmundo's rock.

The recent Edmundos ive smoked have been a bit meh, I think they were 09s. They were not terrible but as said above the petit Ednumdo is far superior.

It's exactly what I'd say too. Jimmeh and Big_T were at the Edmundo launch a couple of years back and people were throwing them out half finished.

It's now an OK smoke but you'd be best looking at something else.

Thought I would cheer myself up tonight and smoke something I know for a fact is a great smoke. Upmann EL 2005 Mag 50, plus a small Zacapa 23. If only all cigars tated like this the world would be a better place.

I have previously tried the Petite Edmundos when they were first released and I did not rate them compared to the Edmundo. Perhaps I need to give them another try.

Never really taken to the edmundo never had a box but smoked numerous singles over the years found them lacking somewhat whilst giving massive amounts of smoke. The petit edmundo i really like on my second box now and smoke fantastically well young
