I've never got on with the Monte 2 but I've still got a Diplo 2 I had from cj121 a while back. I shall have to give it a go. If I don't get on with that either I'll know why.
I love the warm talk of the H. Upmann No.2 and Sir Winston. With a little age these are the best pyramid and Churchill in regular production, in my humble opinion. The Monarcas I wanted to try but out of production now. Upmann such a vastly under-rated brand.
As for the Monty and Dippy. I have never had a great experience with the Dip brand but an aged Monty 2 can be bloody good so that winds hands down for me.
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"
I can't believe that I didn't comment on this first time around...
For the Dippy No2 v Monte No2 debate, I'm afraid I have to side firmly with the Dippy. A really great cigar in my opinion, especially with a few years on them.
Must try the Upmann No2, read lots of good stuff about them in various places, it can't be without merit.

I couldn't agree more T!!! I adore the Upmann range...the 46, 48LE, Conny#1, Sir W, #2....all fantastic!
I love most of the pyramides but the Upmann would for me be the best , great development of flavour starts quite mild but at the end ends up as strong as a boli

You've got me intrigued with that statement! I sense some Upmann No. 2s coming my way soon...
Feeling the calling of Upmann 2's myself. Tried my first Dip. about 4 months ago but think I must have managed to select a weaker stick as I found the draw incredibly tight, definitely time to try it again!
Recently smoked a lovingly aged '01 Uppy No 2 and wasn't in love as I had expected to be. Big, old school smoke but not as smooth/sophisticated as I had hoped.
