Going to keep this brief as I'm off to work but so far my favourite cigar has to be the SD4 (I'm new to cigars btw) so I'm thinking of exploring the Partagas range with a box. Do I go for the p2 or 898 varnished?
Tom
It depends on teh age. Varnished from the late 90s beats a recent production p2 for sure. But I'm guessing you want a punch you in the facer, so I'd go with the p2. If you can't get the early 05s, get the 08 tubo.
I prefer the size of the P2 but they are both stupendous cigars.
The P2 come in boxes of 3, 10 & 25 - why not get some of each and find out which you like best? More fun that way!
like moidoid said, get some of each. I love both vitolas, but tend to go towards the 898. The P2 is amazing, very full-bodied but not as refined as the 898.
898 for me, but agree with those who say some of each. Got to try as many as possible after all it's your opinion that counts, not ours. They're your tastebuds.

Reason: grammar!

Rather than get a box, why not get a few sticks of each to try and then get a box of the ones you like the best?
Just that you mentioned your new to cigars, so investing in a box of cigars that you haven't tried before might be an expensive mistake.
