  • Cuban Cigar Selection - Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa

    Hello all!

A friend of mine is currently living it up in Jamaica and has said that there is a cart within the Grand Palladium hotel with a selection of Cuban cigars. I have asked him to send me some photos as I’d be interested in a few pieces. My initial thoughts are that the hotel is on the finer side and surely wouldn’t entertain any old merchant selling knockoffs on their premises, but I’m also aware that it’s Jamaica and fakes are commonplace! 😆

I have attached the photos I have been provided with. Please let me know if anything looks concerning (forby the prices). The band on the Cohiba Esplendidos looks good to me, but the Sublimes look a bit off. Some of them look on the rougher side.

The lit cigar is what was purchased as an Esplendidos. The ash is the expected colour as opposed to white.

It’s ultimately the Partagas and Romeo y Julieta I am interested in anyway, but let me know your through.

    Regards,

    Duncan. ⭐️

If they're selling fake Cohiba Sublimes (minus the EL bands) then I reckon they'll all be fake. Avoid.
FYI a box of 25x Sublimes sold recently for £10.0000 at Cgars auctions

The bands are certainly fake from the photos. On the Partagas too. Living up to the reputations for sure. Nothing in those photos is genuine.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Agreed, nothing there is real. Typical of the carts and stalls I’ve seen across Caribbean hotels.

The posh hotels wont deny the cart sellers make some money from the tourists. Don't blame them, Mans gotta eat! Always down to the buyer to decide.

I did think they were all fake, but a couple of the bands were on the undecided side for me. The Sublimes were a total write-off for obvious reasons.

My friend bought one of the Esplendidos for $25 USD and said it was disappointing… I wonder why. 🤣
              Thank you. 👍🏻

That’s actually another good way of looking at it so thank you for sharing this perspective.
