  • More bad news from Cuba?

I can't find the article I read the rumour in, but searching in the background.

Rumour has it prices will go up another 20% in 2024 due to a plethora of problems we've all heard before; lack of rollers, lack of fertiliser, lack of food (thus taboccao a secondary priority) etc

That's getting very close to the point were I resign myself to working my way through my stash and not buying cubans

If the money actually went to the people who needed it then the price increases wouldn't hurt half as much. I talk about other markets around the world because the UK market is already ruined by greed,

As Tony Soprano once wisely said

”It's good to be in something from the ground floor. I came too late for that and I know. But lately, I'm getting the feeling that I came in at the end. The best is over.”

I think the NC world has enough very good reasonably priced cigars to choose from for me to not bother with Cubans if that’s the case.

I’m sure I’ll still pick up the odd box of Mille Fleurs or similar but that’s about it for me.

Haven't heard this yet.... Usual annual increases expected though.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Dumb question but do these price increases effect the pricing in Cuba too ?

I’ve not been for a few years and am due a trip soon (assuming all is good there re blackouts).

Yeah prices in Cuba are massively up compared to what they were years ago.

Do we just blame mismanagement? Surly Cuba must be really feeling global inflation, especially with their economy being so fragile.

When does Habanos typically announce their annual price updates? Believe it typically around Q1.

If people keep paying the prices they will keep pushing them up. When sales numbers drop below what they produce then prices will stop increasing. I doubt they will ever seriously drop.

I looked into buying some Partagas Shorts the other day from a site I have had good results from in previous years. My last order (late 2021) was $195 for fifty (two boxes of twenty five). Now it’s $250 for a single box of twenty five. That’s me out and out hard.
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

You'd be surly too if our economy was in such dire straits, seriously though I read recently that 400,000 Cubans left last year because things have got so bad.

                              Still ongoing...

The Partagas festival is on now. The big Habanos festival is in Feb. Someone said they hiked the gala dinner cost tenfold. They trying to run the country's economy on cigars?
