almost no point to that... $500 from Toronto and 260 goes towards the taxes. 140 goes towards plane tickets and 100 for the resort. overnight trip would just be minimum 450 dollars. why not pay the extra 50 dollars for 3 days?
btw. if anyone plans on going to Cuba next, come through Toronto first!
I bet it was cheaper then though!

luckily, i got to test it out with my mate and another bloke's parents (designate them as person A and person B respectively). They both came from Switzerland and had the final destination of going to Cuba (then back to CH, of course). this happened just around three weeks ago.
Person A went to see her son (my friend) on this side first. stayed over at her house here and flew to Cuba for 2 weeks. then came back to Toronto and left for Zuerich. The trip to Cuba cost just a tad over 800 dollars as it's not prime time. flight back and forth from Zuerich to Toronto cost just over 600 dollars
Person B flew straight from Zuerich to Varadero with an annoying flight and need to adjust to time zones. he stayed there for 2 weeks as well but ended up with a total of around 1000 CHF. that was somewhere around 1250 CAD (i remember when it used to be 1100CAD ).
all in all, you save 200 dollars but miss out on these Glorious Torontonian sunshine, me, and other things this city's known for... i have no idea why people come to Toronto, actually.

I was looking last night, trip advisor has a link to a site called Cuban cigar lounge which they say is the right place to buy cigars. Their website includes prices but it seems way to cheap. An example is this:
$220! Seems low even if you are at the factory door but I could be wrong...
I've been careful not to show the whole page in this screen capture as they do have an online order facility.
Anyway I now want to go on a fishing trip to Cuba even more than ever!
By the way if a company offers shipping from Cuba and it is recommended by trip advisor where do I stand? If I get stuff shipped am I breaking the law or is it fine if the box has a declaration on it? And is it still cheap once postage and import tax is added?
