  • I'm back smoking again

I haven't been here for a while. Since I was smoking and posting here I've moved away from London to north Devon, got divorced (and am about to get married again) and been on a health kick (lost almost 40kgs). One of the results of the health kick was that I stopped smoking, but after 7 years without a cigar I have found myself smoking again occasionally so I thought I'd post to say "hi". Last night I enjoyed a Juan Lopez Seleccion Suprema (UK regional 2009) - the first one I've smoked in probably 8 years, and I have to say it was lovely.

One thing though - this morning I ventured onto CGars website and I'm a little shocked by how much prices have risen since I was buying. Looking at prices this morning has left me with a bit of a dilemma. If I'd realised the JL I smoked last night was worth almost £50 (I still can't quite believe that) I'm not sure I would have smoked it. I've got a lot of Cubans left from 10 years ago when I was smoking a lot, but now I'm actually wondering if I can justify smoking them!

Anyway, I just wanted to say "hello"

Welcome back, what's the point of having them if you don't smoke them?

Welcome back, perhaps today's 🇬🇧 prices will mean you can enjoy the occasional smoke, without being tempted to smoke too many, now you're fighting fit.

I guess you're right and I should smoke them, but at the current rate they'll probably last me the rest of my life . Anyway, I've just had a look in the humidors & tuppadors and taken stock, and this is what I have -

That's a great collection. Worth quite a bit too. Did you monitor the humidity?

Yes, even though I haven't been smoking much that's one thing I've always been a little OCD about. I have two humidors - a large Adorini (this model https://www.humidordiscount.co.uk/ad...esktop-humidor) which came with a Cigar Heaven humidifier - in which I keep boxes that have been started, and a smaller desktop humidor for loose cigars, and two large tupperware boxes that I use as tuppadors for the full boxes. The smaller humidor & the tuppadors all have Western Calibre IV digital hygrometers, which were all calibrated when I received them, and I use hartfelt beads to keep the humidity at around 70%. I check the humidity every month or two, and add distilled water to the beads / absorbant pad in the cigar heaven humidifier at the same time.
The large humidor and the tuppadores are pretty easy to maintain at (or just below) 70%. The smaller humidor takes a little more attention, but that's probably because it's almost empty.
