  • In praise of ERDM Demi Tasse

Just wondering if there are any other big fans of this wee Cuban stick? Just smoked my first since moving to the UK, as they were stashed away for the move. It struck me as a little crazy just how good such a small stick can make me feel. Not only are they a lovely & distinct flav, they always seem to lift my mood too. Well made & constructed, only had a problem with a few from 2001 - as you do. Finally got to sort them out & a bit shocked to see how few boxes I have left used to have 7!

To use the hackneyed phrase, 'my journey' with this vitola goes back to Feb 2006, when I bough my first from Wardour St, Soho, where I used to stop for a smoke before catching the train to Aberdeen train. I bought it because it was the cheapest Havana (only £4 back then) & I thought if I liked it, I would buy a box or two on my summer hols to Spain. the age wasn't noted in my diary but I did write 'impressed.'

That July I bought a box in Spain at E1.65 each, the following day I bought a box of Grande de Espana for E6.5 each, which I had discovered were an amazing smoke too! It hurts to remember those prices. Bought several more boxes from Geto's inc several from 1990, which really got me hooked into vintage smokes as they were 16yo at t he time. I manged to buy more & indeed was still smoking them way past 20yo!

My standard accompaniment is a single coffee but for high days & holidays they match with fine vintage champagne, & is usually my first smoke on Christmas day. If I wanted a stronger, darker smoke of similar size, I still have some Boli' DT's but like all Boli's I prefer later in the day, after a meal.

Love to hear of anyone else with a soft spot for this vitola & if you haven't tried them yet, I can't recommend them highly enough.

Deep stuff Simon... almost poetic. Perhaps run a split to share the love here?

Indeed, great idea Martin, remember you brought over from Gesto, the first boxes of the 1990 that we enjoyed

The RyJ petit julieta is a pretty good alternative too.

Agreed, The only Entreco I don't get on with is the du Marie, too many too tight but I know others enjoy them..

Du Marie is one of my faves and never seem to have had any problems with mine just a few stick left of 05s in humi

I also love a DT, I never managed to get hold of any as I think they were long discontinued before I started smoking (2014).

I always like to have a box sleeping and one open 👍🏼

Krist, ERDM DT, Hoyo du Marie & R&J Petit Julieta's are still in production, there was a rumour a few yrs ago they might discontinue the ERDM (which is when I started stocking up just in case) but so far so good.

I agree. ERDM DT are a fine daytime smoke. I'd be up for some

Was never a fan, but took to these recently. Shows how much our palette can change
