Just a tip to remember, it's always tricky thinking of the extra charges that will be added, I find +30% works close enough & it was for my lots this time.
I think it's all relative to wealth Simon.

Sure is. Imagine you’re Jeff Bezos and you suddenly find yourself liking cigars, why would you care about price if you want to build a little collection of 3-5000 cigars in a week?

Some of this will be akin to the watch market, where increased global wealth and awareness, via Social media, has led to huge demand surges for Rolexes, Pateks, etc, and indeed once prices start rising then buying just to sell as investments comes into play and spikes demand even more and so a raging bull market comes into effect. I imagine something similar is happening to cigars. Cubans are probably the equivalent of Rolex, and Patek is maybe like Opus X which are mostly sold out in the USA already, with growing new awareness and demand for western luxuries from China and Russia and soon India.

Also very much depends on the individual and their intent. I know guys that are not extremely wealthy, but would happily treat themselves to a £100 cigar once or twice a year as a splurge. Similarly others that are loaded but balk at the thought of a £20 stick but happily splash on a ridiculously expensive bottle of wine which I don’t really understand.

Same goes for watches. I would likely never sell any of mine unless I have to, so the increased value doesn’t actually mean anything to me, and I wear them daily because it’s a passion. Conversely, Buddies of mine have made megabucks trading watches these past two years.

In anything, there will always be levels, and within that, more levels. Enjoy what you love, we only have one life.
