Special Occasion Cigar

Evening all,

It’ll be my big 30th birthday in November, and I really fancy a special cigar to celebrate.

When I left the RAF(one of the biggest days thus far), I had a Behike 52.
Now, I’m not sure I feel like splashing out the >£100+ they go for now.
However, what would be your go to “special occasion” cigar

I’m thinking no more than 35£ but something unique.

Thoughts appreciated!

Not easy under E35 for such an occasion but her goes: Sig VI, get one 5yrs+, (possibly from a member on here), as good as a Behike 52 for alot less bucks IMHO. A similarly aged Esplen is a good second. An off the wall suggestion, find a cigar from 1990 or older. I have a Monte Especiale from '84 if you're stuck.

Smoke something you really like. More important to enjoy the celebration than have something because it's supposed to be good. You might hate it and regret spending the money so where would that leave your special celebration.

Yeah, I understand that cigars seem to have inflated significantly. To think, I paid £25 for that Behike!
I've had 3 Siglo VI's before, and they never impressed me, far preffered the Robusto, maybe the fact they were <2 years old didnt help, are they one that really benefit from the extra age?

Yes, Im torn as I havent really explored all of the marcas (for example, I've never had a Punch, Bolivar, SCDLH or JL), but I agree, I want something I have an inckling that I'll enjoy.

I saw a thread along these lines from a few months ago which gave a few suggestions, however, the budget I have seems a bit meesly!

I’d have said Siglo VI too. It’s pretty sad to think that £35 narrows it down quite a lot. Trini Topes LE might have been my next suggestion so perhaps try the new regular production 🤷♂️

Fundadores or a Lusitania? IMO some of the best smokes in that bracket

Personally would avoid Cohiba’s other than the Medio Siglo with only a few years on them. But with time I’m sure you’d find them more to your tastes than previous.

If I was looking at a shop here I’d speak to them about what they had that’s been down for a bit.
