Yes... I quite like them, I always have the No. 2 and Seoana in stock, profile would be medium, vegetal/slightly grassy/some wood, a little spice, maybe with a little sweet ginger edge, an elegant unique smoke unlike any other Cuban, very well made.
The Seoana is similar in profile, very aromatic, this brand was originally intended as a higher end Cuban like Cohiba/Trinadad but never quite took off, can be quite a bargain if you can buy with a little discount, worth a try.Last edited by ACMCC; 28-07-2010, 09:29 PM.

Actually it's the opposite: hey were originally manufactured in Pinar del Rio (in the old Francisco Donatien factory) for tourists and for local consumption, as "vegueros cigars", ie "peasant cigars"?

The cigar importer for Switzerland states:
'Vegueros History: An homage to the cultivators of the Vuelta Abajo plantations, Vegueros literally translates to ?harvester?. It honours cultivators of the tobacco plantations in Vuelta Abajo who were anonymous artists for hundred of years.
These cigars are mild, slightly herbaceous and well balanced. They compare favourably to any of the more famous ?major? brands at a fraction of the cost. Construction, quality and colors are second-to-none. Vegueros is a well-kept insider?s secret.'
Another importers quote:
'Vegueros is a cigar totally made in Vuelta Abajo, the land of the best tobacco of the world. The solid building where this high-quality trade mark is manufactured was built in 1868.
At the beginning this building had the function of a hospital of the Spanish colony, since 1870 as a prison and later in 1959 the School of Arts was established there. In 1961 it became into the Cigarettes Factory "Francisco Donatien". Today, history and a good taste offer a new jewel to the most demanding and experts persons. Vegueros, from the very Pinar del Rio.'
A quote from a book:
'Vegueros Cuban cigars are not generally well known. This is because they were originally made for local consumption and not aimed at the international market. They are truly a well-kept secret in the Cuban cigar world and were first introduced to the public in 1996. Vegueros has a very distinctive green and white cigar band, which is its distinguishing mark. This brand has always been associated with superior quality, and is highly preferred by cigar lovers who are very particular about the quality of their cigars. Vegueros Cuban cigars might be hard to come across because they are handmade and available in small quantities.
Habanos have discontinued both the Laguito No. 1 and 2, and now make an aftershave called Vegueros which compliments the smoking of the cigars! should be interesting, I have been lucky on the draw front, out of 7 or so boxes perhaps 1% have been a little tight, but they have been stored at 68% so this may have helped, everything is personal of course but many cigar smokers like them and I would recommend anyone to try for them selves.

After a little research... it appears that some may well have been made at the El Laguito factory (Cohiba factory) the construction of the especial No.2's I have had are up with the best of all Cuban's, and I've had a few, similarly well made would be the last couple of boxes of Gloria M d'or's. The taste profile having the grassy edge, hints of both Cohiba and Trinadad also in the taste profile and the price point would not indicate that Habanos had positioned these at the bottom of the range, as JLP/Quintero etc. this is perhaps why many reviewers see them pitched higher in the range.... only speculation of course.

And both the No1s and No2s are disappearing off of sites very quickly. Kinda suggests not many were made.If you want to, you can.

Very true Tippexx, not a popular brand, many consider them to be a hidden gem, perhaps an indication of the difficulties of launching a completely new name in a market filled with history, however they are deleting both the long panatela's - keeping the Seoana and Marevas, an indication of the fall in popularity in long thin vitolas, they had a special release Belicosos that I have not tried, which could be interesting...
Quite a few of the thin vitolas will be deleted this year, the Gloria 1 and 3, Partagas serie du connoisseur 1/2/3, ERDM grandes de Espania.
Can't understand the Punch RS11/12 going, the RS11 is a great cigar with some age, the Dippi 4 and 5 are also going, although rumours of these being cheaper versions of the Monte 4 and 5 (which may well be unfounded) may have helped put an end to these.
Preparation of entry to the US market may well be the reasoning for the current trend in wider ring gauges, they need to be a little careful they don't throw the baby out with the bath water after all the open range is not the greatest development from the Party SDC range!
I'll keep a stock of some of the more interesting deletions...

Yes, ERDM Grandes de Espania are on my list. But with very few boxes out there, that might be singles.
The Vequero too I might pick up a few singles off. A Silly Thing. I was always put off a bit by the branding. I don't like the colour or the design and it just dosen't seem to fit the regular Habanos image that well.
The other must get a few of are Quay d'Orsay Panatellas (which nobody ever speaks about on here ? so I guess I'm to be the guinea pig ? and the Punch Royal Selecci?n No. 12.If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Yes, I agree on the Vegueros branding being uninspiring I had my first as a gift 4/5 years ago, I would not say they are any thing extra special, worth a try though. I've hunted all over the UK for the ERDM GDE's, no luck, may try to pick up a box in Cuba, but with so much to choose from and only 100 smokes (2 people) allowed.... may be tempted by something else..

Singles my sweet bippy. Tried about everywhere ..... I've found one, repeat one stick. I think the Retailers are storing them away to mature and charge a fortune for later.
If anyone finds any of these .... grab them!If you want to, you can.
